Kolkata Salt Lake Hospital Fire: Massive Blaze Erupts at Anandalok Hospital, Patients Safely Evacuated
A major fire broke out on Tuesday morning at Anandalok Hospital in Kolkata’s Salt Lake area, causing panic among patients, staff, and nearby residents.
According to reports, the fire started on the second floor and quickly spread, filling the building with thick black smoke. The fire brigade was alerted around 10 AM, after which multiple fire tenders rushed to the spot and began firefighting operations.
In a swift evacuation effort, hospital staff and rescue teams safely moved patients using stretchers and wheelchairs. In some cases, glass windows had to be broken to evacuate people quickly as the smoke intensified.
Thankfully, no casualties or serious injuries have been reported so far. Authorities suspect a possible short-circuit, though the exact cause is still under investigation.
Nearby hospitals have started receiving transferred patients as emergency operations continue. Firefighters are still working to fully control the blaze and ensure no one is trapped inside.
