The waiting game was always the hardest part. Anxious was an understatement as she sat on the bed in the doctor's office, silently praying for good news. Wouldn't that have been wonderful? To leave the office, a brilliant smile upon her lips, her features shining brilliantly with happiness as she was able to tell Kol that their baby was healthy and things would be set in motion. They'd be able to start the family they had always wanted, the family they had discussed for so long now. Of course, life had different things in store. She never got the things she prayed for, it was part of the reason that she had stopped praying. What was the point when she ended up with the exact opposite as the doctor walked through the door, his face sullen and sarrow was the most dominate emotion in his blue gaze. "You've lost the baby, Anna, I'm sorry." There was a pause from him as the words resounded through her body, coiling around her like a snake strangling it's prey. That was the exact opposite of what she wanted to here. She lost their baby? How was that possible? She had done everything to make sure she was healthy, that the baby was in the best condition she could provide but apparently even her best wasn't enough as tears stung her dulling chocolate hues, her head fell, shoulder slung forward. Was she good for anything? Could she even face Kol after this? How would she be able to tell him that she lost their child? How could she break that news to him after seeing just how happy he was when she told him they would be having that baby they dreamed of. No, she couldn't tell him. She couldn't ruin him that way. "I'll give you some time." The doctor spoke, giving her shoulder a light squeeze before heading out of the room. It was in a daze of tears and pain that she made her mind up. She'd leave without a word. Not a word to Kol or even her parents. Not after this. Broken was an understatement.
