I made a komebukuro! I don't have a sewing machine, so I love things I can sew by hand. I roughly followed a tutorial by k3n clothtales on youtube but did the piecing the 'jude hill' way, because that's what I'm used to. I used a 6 loop fingerbraid to make the cords. I am super happy with it, and I'm already onto number 2 :D

A made another komebukuro! This is similar to the last one I made - except I did ninepatch sides and this time I added a pocket :D All hand sewn again, and once again made the cords using finger braiding.

A member of one of my ttrpg groups asked me for a dice bag that is

- 'better than my old, ugly plastic case'

- green or blue

- 'something japanese if you can'

I know, he was really specific^^ Anyway, I made him a ricebag (Komebukuro). According to the internet, people use it to transport rice to the shrine as an offering.

I made the bigger one first, but I had underestimated how big a 12 cm square as the base would be. So I made another one, smaller this time, and I like that one a lot more.

It's made of scrap fabric and scrap interfacing from my stash, and I fingerloop braided the cord as well.

just a teaser for the next workshop It was two years ago that I taught one of the last indigo workshops at the Japanese American National Museum. We made komebukuro bags with dyed and stitched fabrics from the class.
