laughter rin/konan?
The pitter patter of rain against wood and metal is a constant in Amegakure. A sound Rin has long since gotten used to after her first visit just a few short years ago.
It’s a calming sound. Much more relaxing than the hustle and bustle of Konoha, but also sadder. There were no cheerful voices in the streets down below. No parents calling after their children, or friends running around cheering in the streets.
Amegakure was an empty village, ruined by war and Rin always remmembered that best when the only thing she could hear was the rain.
“How do you do it?” She asked, staring up at the grey clouds that hung high in the air above them. “How do you sit here every day and listen to the rain?”
Konan offers her a small, sad smile. “I have no where else to be.”
“You could-“
“No,” glancing at the other woman, Rin sighed when she saw her eyes focused on the little village below them. Streets devoid of life, full only of the broken walls that had once been part of homes. “This is where I belong.”
“Well,” sliding in a bit closer, she leaned into Konan’s side. “Then i’ll just have to get used to it too.”
A difficult task. Rin was used to the sound of life and laughter reaching her ears, but the Rain wasn’t that different. It was calmer.
More serene.
“Will you?” Konan laid her chin on top of Rin’s head. “You don’t have to, you know.”
“I want to,” she can’t say why, only that her heart calls to her to stay. That this is her home now, by Konan’s side. “For you.”
Rain is a sweet sound. The pitter patter against the metal a song Rin never thought she would come to love
But Laughter
That ringing in her ears when Her words catch Konan by surprise and the joy escapes her throat in the form of pure, unrestrained laughter.
That’s her favorite sound in the whole world.
“hey… that wasn’t so nice.” + rin/konan!

Konan is ready. She’s prepared to fracture into paper, let herself split into pieces like she’s practiced, ready for the man to kick her so she can put it into reality-
“Hey,” says an unfamiliar voice. “That’s not so nice, is it?”
Konan looks up to see a Konoha ninja jump out of nowhere to roundhouse kick the man in the face and slam a glowing green hand into his chest - he goes down immediately. Dead or unconscious, she’s not sure.
The other ninja turns - short brown hair with purple rectangles on each cheek, she gives her a smile. “Hi! You’re Konan, right? Master Jiraiya told me about you.”
She blinks twice, and then Konan pulls herself into a sitting position. “JIraiya-sensei told you about me...?” He remembered them?
The girl nods. “Yeah. He asked my team to check in on you guys, since we were passing by. Seems like it’s pretty crazy!”
A whole team. A whole team of ninja, here to help, and if they’re anything as good as this girl is... “I’m Nohara Rin,” the girl says. “It’s nice to meet you.”
Nohara Rin. Her smile is bright, cutting through the perpetual gloom of Amegakure, the rain and the clouds and the darkness that has worried Konan and the others so.
She offers a hand.
“It’s nice to meet you, too,” Konan says, and she takes it.
