“There’s no way I can finish all this pickled daikon myself.”
Konomon from Barakamon Recipe adapted from the manga
Ingredients: About 7 Pound Daikon 4 Cups Sugar 3/4 cup Vinegar 3/4 cup Light Soy Sauce
Peel and cut the daikon onto slices, then cut the slices in half or in quarters. Put them in a safe place to dry till they are small and wrinkled
Put the Vinegar, Light Soy Sauce and Sugar into a pan and hear it on medium heat and stir till all the sugar is melted then remove from the heat and cool tit off
place everything in a sterile jar (roughly one 24 oz jar or two 16 oz jars) and, seal it off with the lid and let it rest for 2-3 days
Yesterday I cooked my very fist Japanese style chicken curry, it was super delicious! And now I really want to make konomon 🤤 so I need to find daikon in İstanbul. Let me cook 😭
Just learned that the Japanese have a traditional measurement called Gou (合) and that’s it’s roughly 180ml, so now I can make Konomon
Konomon!
Not Konomon …
This isn't really art related, but I'm still posting it because I like it. Anyway I tried the Konomon recipe from Barakamon! I love a good pickled daikon, and they're really hard to get here in England. (there was a great Asian market about an hour away from me when I lived in Georgia) So I figured I'd try making it myself, and I'm pleased to say they turned out pretty darn good. So in summation, pickles are good, and watch Barakamon, it's a good show.
I need the cuteness of barakamon in my dash...
