Konrad's mother: Where are YOU going? Konrad: Out. Konrad's mother: Did you pick up your room? Konrad: I tried. But I couldn't lift it! GET IT?? AH HA HA HA HA HA! … Konrad: For some reason, the sound of children's laughter doesn't make Mom sentimental.
Konrad: There's this book Mom reads to me every night called The Giving Tree. It's a really good book, but the back of it has a picture of the author, this guy named Shel Silverstein. But Shel Silverstein looks more like a burglar or a pirate than a guy who should be writing books for children. (later) Konrad's mother: If you get out of bed tonight, you'll probably run into Shel Silverstein in the hallway.
Konrad's mother: (sleeping)
Konrad: (standing by her bedside) *ahem*
Konrad's mother: (wakes up with a start) YAHHH!
Konrad: Good morning, Mom! Guess what? It's the Christmas season! (Turns around) And I'm gonna be nice to you... (Leaves the room) so that the Christkindl will bring yours truly lots of stuff! (Comes back into the room with a plate of bacon and eggs) Here's breakfast in... (Trips, sending the bacon and eggs flying into his mother's face) Oops! (Lifts up a fried egg from off his mother's eye, grins awkwardly) Uh, let's keep this our little secret, okay?
Konrad's mother: How dumb does Franz think you are?
Philip's mother: Sometimes he leaves me pictures of food instead of a shopping list.
Konrad's mother: (on the phone) I’m sorry, Konrad can’t come to the telephone right now; he’s tied up.
(Camera pans out to reveal that Konrad is literally tied to the armchair.)
Konrad's mother: (to Konrad) And you’re going to stay tied up, young man, until you learn to stop picking your nose!
Konrad: Mom, as well as not being able to pick my nose, I won’t be able to do my homework or my chores, either.
Konrad's mother: Oh. Well, then I guess I’d… Oh no you don’t, young man! I’m not falling for that! You never do any homework, and you certainly don’t ever do any chores. So ha-ha, one for me.
(Konrad's mother turns on the TV.)
TV Announcer: For the next five hours, we here at Educational Television are proud to present a performance by the Moroccan String Quartet.
Konrad's mother: (to a horrified Konrad) You won’t be able to change the channel, either.

Konrad's mother: That's nice.

(speaking again) Thank you! Thank you! Boy, what an audience! Thank you! Please! Ha ha! No, really, sit down! Thank you! Thank you!
Konrad's mother: I'm changing the channel, OK?
Konrad: Sorry, I'm on all the networks.
Konrad's mother: How was your honeymoon?
Philip's mother: Franz got very drunk and tried to set our marriage certificate on fire. He said “Good luck trying to return me without the receipt”.
