Taken some time off to destress from being busy. I’ll get back to my deity rambles in a moment, butttttt
Philippine birds anyone? c:
So many birdsssss…
Returning to the Konsteneta thing,
There’s lore now for these floating islands in Konsteneta’s sky, which is where most of the birds live.
In my doomed yuri story, a lot of these families (bird species) fall into water due to uh Kasay’s island falling into bleh (and I now have a solid , concrete reason why that happens!! Yahh!!). Not all birds die as some become bound to other pieces of land like in the island archipelago south of where they fell and the coasts of the Great Continent.
I will say, I also have grown fond of Alapaap haha she’s lore relevant now!!
Amihan, Alapaap, and Lihangin, whose odd one out BAHAHAH they’re all now the most lore relevant in my world whether they like it or not
this is uh modern era Konsteneta Apolaki and Mayari at the height of their power (Mayari with the full moon phase of the Greater Moon and Apolaki is the Solar Solstice)
For celestial body deities in Konsteneta, their hair reflects the elemental power they were created from, and it mimics the phases that the element goes through.
It was not really obvious in my other sketches, but Kulalaying, Mayari, and all the other moon deities share this moon phase hair ordeal in Konsteneta.
Post Alapaap Obsession (well, after the years he kept chasing her and clinging to her, he was still obsessed afterwards, but never really enacted on it??), he started to kind of mirror Apolaki to fill in this void of emptiness and lack of purpose.
And around this time, he slowly started to lose his identity
He got so good at mirroring Apolaki that if Apolaki were to disappear, Araw would be indistinguishable from Apolaki. When Mayari tried to talk to Araw once, thinking he was Apolaki, Araw covered his face and avoided her for the rest of that year.
And yes, Araw is LITERALLY a mirrored version of Apolaki, but lacks some character traits of Apolaki, so he’s not a perfect mirror (like horn ornaments are off, eyes are red w black, earrings are off too).
3 & 4 - Alapaap (Tagalog goddess of the sky from what I remembered)
5 - Magwayen (she’s ehh right now I need to simmer more of the Bisayan deities)
6 - Lidagat and Lihangin (again like with Magwayen, I need to simmer them more)
Alapaap ranks higher in terms of power against Amihan and Habagat as deities in my world (she’s known as The Sky/Heaven’s Mother), but like many other wind gods, I’d imagine they’re busy making their way around Konsteneta controlling their own winds so they don’t want anything to do with the Floating Islands. Amihan volunteered themself to do that haha
I wanted to draw Mayari for now in which I do have lore surrounding her that's coming along!! I can't wait to share soon lol
In my world, a lot of gods and goddesses are manifestations of elements, with their emotions and cognition being created through the heat of their world. And thus, their power relies heavily on the concentration of their elements.
As manifestations of the world's heat and elements, there are many cases in which the gods and goddesses do not align with a singular gender. Some change theirs throughout the many years they exist, some might stay as a genderless entity with a confidence that they wouldn't need one, and some choose to use a certain form to appeal to their mortals. They are indeed just a condensed, solid form of something.
Mayari was born of the light reflected from the moon, representing the fact that she is only a ray compared to the endless light her father brings. In my world, most recently can she be found flaunting her soft glow in a more feminine form. She's also a god often involved with the creation of many beings related to the sky.
And as you can see already, a lot of the gods and goddesses were created after mortals were made, which explains their desire to inspire their mortals. Since they are just elemental beings, they usually start off without a purpose, and so mortals to them are like a bright light that shoots through the darkness.
me thinks. i'm still sleepy, i'll proofread, but like lowkey, its something!!
But indeed, it has been something that has been circling my mind, so I thought to share it before I forgot it lol
And hey!! some art!! :D
[UPDATE 3/22/26]
It looks good bahhahaha. This image is a more youthful Mayari, probably right after her creation. Later on, she becomes more warrior-like when she finds that her passions lie in protecting her people. She shifts form to a form more (in a western traditional sense) masculine and associates herself with strength. I believe it's somewhat shown through that one sketch of Apolaki and Mayari fighting.
I'm kind of trying to balance keeping a respectful interpretation of deities as characters in all and also having their own unique traits that belong to Konsteneta specifically. Anyways I'm hoping to draw muscular Mayari or something sometime soon ahahahh
