Gemini - Normani Scrapped Debut Album (2022-2023?)
Not much is known about this version of the album. However, Normani mentioned this name during her interview with Zach Sang during the promotion of Dopamine so I decided to come up with what I envision the album could've looked like aesthetically.
My mind goes back to the "twin scene" in the Wild Side music video during the bridge where she dances with "herself" (Hey Joyaaa!!!!) and how it could be a play on the duality of her personality, her sonic landscape between R&B and Pop, and her overall aesthetic... she can be bright and bubbly but also dark and mysterious.
I also believe her inclusion of Teyana Taylor in her VMAS performance of Wild Side (which is amazing), is not only just a tribute to Janet Jackson for her Would You Mind performances on the All For You tour but a reference to the music video scene in the video. This time she's playing on the concept of "self love", and sexual freedom/exploration.
I think the album as a whole would be dealing with the duality of who Normani is perceived to be as an artists vs who she is behind the red carpets, high intensive choreography, and perfectly crafted visuals that pair along with her music. Normani the Performer vs. Normani the Human. It reminds me of Beyonce's I Am... Sasha Fierce album, however I don't think there would be a "Side A/Side B" with distinctive sounds but more so in terms of the energy.
As I've mentioned in my "The Butterfly Effect" post about that version of the album, she played with darker sounds and visuals (Wild Side is what I think she's mostly referring too) so I would expect the same to be attributed to this album, as the Gemini name to my understanding was more so a idea for the name and not necessarily an entire dedicated concept.
But this version which I combine with the Butterfly Effect in terms of Timeline would eventually lead to the Dopamine era and the album actually being released in 2024.
