The flowers of Sanguisorba hakusanensis 'Lilac Squirrel' (Korean burnet) look almost unreal in both their colour and texture. This is a more compact cultivar of this rhizomatous herbaceous perennial. It produces a mat-forming, running rootstock with blue-green foliage and these distinctive flowers which here were part is a traditional cottage garden style planting.
