Have you had Pošip before? Such a unique wine from a grape indigenous to Croatia. The most classic expression of the wine is from grapes grown on the island of Korčula off the coast of Dalmatia - like this 2017 Korta Katarina beauty. Check out that color and body, which might make you think you’re going to get an over-oaked buttery wine. Not with this grape! In another unusual pairing I decided to open this beautiful 2017 Korta Katarina Pošip to enjoy with sautéed lamb. Some white wines might not be up to the challenge but this indigenous Croatian varietal certainly held its own. Pošip grapes produce a very full-bodied wine with golden color and depth of texture and mouthfeel. Citrus and stone fruits abound but balanced by a bracing acidity. Grapes sourced from vineyards on the island of Korčula which is regarded as “the” place to grow this grape.
