Exceptional has to be the only term fitting for her in Cain's book. A traitor, like him. A stray demon, like him, and yet already the only one he risked his head for when every other hellspawn justifiably keeps away from him to stay alive. How much rage would brew in them if they witnessed the absence of abhorrence in the way he brushes a stray strand of KOSIAX's white hair behind her ear? How loudly would they fume if they saw him not snarl at her with murderous intent but instead lean in to plant a kiss to the corner of her mouth? Here Cain makes her into a traitor to their kind all over again ; that one fellow demon receiving tenderness.

Dark eyes dart towards the light flickering to life at the end of her luck, then the slender hand holding the lighter, then the woman at the other end. Dolores has never been so thankful for her brown skin, or KOSIAX might have noticed the tiniest bit of heat rising to her cheeks. Taking a long, smooth drag off of cigarette, she watches her with mild curiosity for a moment before breathing out a plume of smoke. "... Hi." Great. Very witty.

...checking a sticky note currently planted against the pads of her fingers, KOSIAX offers a slight tilt in her head as a greeting. "And you are Jim Moriarty, correct?" She doesn't wait for an answer. "I'd like forty-seven minutes in private to discuss something," she sharply crumples the sticky note until it vanishes in the palm of her hand. "I am obligated to."

Jim had always found it amusing when people approached him with the belief that they could dictate the conversation simply because they started it. People asked for his time constantly. They demanded it, BEGGED for it, attempted to steal it away from him under the assumption that his attention was something they were entitled to. The woman before him, with her oddly specific requested time, was no exception, and he had no intention to grant her special treatment.

❝Ohh, you’re obligated to, are you?❞ He drawled, his dark eyes flicking once down at the note she crumpled in her palm, before returning to her visage. ❝If you’re hoping for a meeting now, I’m afraid I’ll have to DISAPPOINT. I’m a very busy man with very little time, and you’re obligated to wait for it.❞

There were a lot of weird things to be found in Night City. Most of the time Piper was smart enough to leave these mysterious things alone, God knew she wasn't about to fry her fucking head by shoving whatever chip she found on the ground into her skull; she's reckless not stupid.

But she did pick up this thing. It was about the size of a chunky lighter, heavy, cold to the touch, and the outside was detailed in a way she didn't usually see. Hell, she thought it was a lighter, until trying to open the damn thing broke her nail.

"Outside the metro opening off of Kabuki." She answered, holding it out for the other woman to see. "Is it yours?"

he did not enjoy being asked to return a soul to the mortal realm. that was not how balance worked. never had been. and he despised it even more when mortals believed things could be solved so easily, as if writing a check could undo death itself. his time was being wasted. he disliked it even more when they followed him for such reasons.

slowly, the god shifted his stance, turning fully to face her now. she seemed unworried. unafraid. and perhaps that was what annoyed him the most. anyone foolish enough to chase the god of the underworld and make such a request should have known better. ❝ well, ❞ he says calmly, far too calmly, the kind of calm that carried danger beneath it. ❝ why should i care ? ❞ crimson eyes settle on her, unblinking.
