Its kind of ironic how Aegiomon is supposed to be a “little brother replacement” for Inori and Aegiomon even tried to be one for her, but given the overprotective natures of a tamed/partnered digimons, Aegiomon ended up having more in common with Inori’s father than her little brother
Also I know we never get to see timeline 0 where everything begins, the first time Inori died or something, but I have so much thoughts about Kosuke (Inori’s father) being the one to possibly end up killing his daughter accidentally, assuming Inori got killed by the Slayer that was malfunctioning.
Imagine, trying to protect your own daughter from Phase Electron Lifeforms only to end up being one of the humans to kill her in the end and a Digimon (Aegiomon) being the one who protected her the whole time. There’s some juicy drama potentials to be made between Kosuke and Aegiomon, who are both incredibly protective of Inori.
Ok I made this post half jokingly but then I realized Aegiomon really did fill in for not only Inori’s dead brother but also (and probably accidentally) her mother, and heck you can even throw in her dad as well cause he’s absent half of the story.

Also another missed fucking opportunity to not add Kosuke as the main character. His wife and son’s death should’ve affected him as well, he would’ve bonded with Aegiomon with how overprotective they are of Inori
This scene was so weirdly directed I hate it, especially it also made Inori comes off as this heartless daughter who’s not self aware of her own situation.

Context: this scene takes place around the 8 years time skip to the future, (Aegiomon evolved to Aegiochusmon, after the fight with Titamon in the human world) Inori just vanished for 8 years and maybe a few days, she’s now confronting her father who is about to unleash the giant slayer that was in the beginning of the game.

I know the scene supposed to be Kosuke not wanting to explain more about his situation, but Inori looking away like that made it seems like she’s just ignoring her dad. Was this the same in the Japanese dialogue??

Inori: Dad tell me why you’re doing this?
Dad: I thought you-
Inori: * looks away *
Is Inori really not aware of her situation? She disappeared for 8 years around the same time the digimon leaked into the human world, of course her dad would be distraught, his daughter disappeared, and probably has something to do with Digimon, resulting in him hating digimon and wanting to eradicate them.
Imagine how much of a horror show it was for Kosuke, you found a shady agent and you let them hang around with your daughter. The next day they found a weird looking digimon that suspiciously reminded you of your deceased son, then swarm of digimon leaked into the human world again, then your daughter, the shady agent and the weird digimon disappeared for 8 years??
I'm still of the opinion that Inori should have been a more active force in Time Stranger's story, and I thought of an interesting way for that to happen. Have it that she's doing her own personal investigation into "phase electron lifeforms" due to reading some of her dad's own investigative notes. Maybe with that, instead of her dad being a private investigator, he's actually doing his own personal research into Digimon and the Digital World. Considering later in the game after the time-skip he is part of Anomalous Affairs, instead of him quitting and rejoining, just have it that he's a bit of a "loose cannon" so to speak when we first meet him. Have it that Kosuke Misono does a lot of things by what he feels is right and not by the book, which could help a bit with his heel turn due to his grief of believing he lost his daughter to what may have caused the loss of his wife and son.
While I still think that having Inori and Yuta be twins and that's who you choose between at the start of the game could work, I also believe that only having a female protagonist is just as good of an option. Her losing her mother and later her younger brother is good motivation for her to start her own investigation into Digimon. She could still feel that need to protect "Coo"/Aegiomon, just now she's more part of the action with being the one to command him and other Digimon on the field. To even keep the Agent Alpha stuff, Inori could be attempting to emulate the characters from Agent Alpha for a multitude of reasons, ranging from how her brother loved that anime to maybe how she could feel a sort of kinship to the characters and their want to do good in honor of the family they have lost. Aegiomon looking like Yuta could be coincidence, maybe it could be something like when protecting the egg, a piece of Yuta's conscious imprinted on who would become Aegiomon.
Also, just a bit of a random thing: there is a version of Inori that gets caught in the time explosion at the start of the game. What happened to that version of her? Was she erased? Considering it seems that, with rare exception, only one person can exist in the universe, that no person sent forward can meet their future self, that's the only thing I can come up with for "Prologue Inori". The sidequest that involves Milleniummon is rare exception due to that Digimon having some time manipulation powers, so the human that meets himself is meant to be very much an anomaly. That sidequest legit had my head spinning and I hate it.
