Why does she look like that. Who made her look like that?
Imagining when aegiomon finally gets to watch Agent Alpha with Inori and all he thinks about is making Kananâs outfit sexier or whatever when heâs finally told to stop looping and messing up the world
Old art. Inspired by this official art by Kariki Hajime (right)
After Time Stranger I learned that there is such a thing as a rushed platonic/familial relationship, so hey its not just for romantic relationships and Aegiomon and Inori is exactly that, a rushed and half-baked relationship, their so-called âbondââŚ. I wonder if they only created Yuu to look like aegiomon because they know they donât want or wouldnât have the time to properly develop their relationship organically? I was okay with the slight retcon because it does connects Aegiomon (Zeus) and Chronomon (Cronus/Kronus? Father of Zeus), but him looking like Inoriâs dead brother just seems to be used to established their âbondâ they were marketed as such too.. but they just end up weirdly one sided and empty.
Now Aegiomon is just someone elseâs dead brother, and it really doesnât help that that someone is such a flat and terribly written character⌠like it is really really bad, especially for a main characterâŚ
At least Aegiomonâs loyalty to Inori is more natural and made sense. She saved and risked her life for him in the underground, (Side note: I do not understand why people claimed that he imprinted on her, when he spent the majority of the time running away from her and only stayed around when he wanted to protect her) and Inori promised her loyalty to him when he was at his lowest after getting rejected for being a monster.
i like to think that jupitermon bonded heavily with the central town kids (apollomon, dianamon, marsmon) and whenever he gets off work he still wants to go hang out with them but junomon makes him have to fill in Leave Paperwork and sign it agreeing to give her his "Wide Plasment" in special "Punish Judge" time later and he just sighs, signs his name, and goes off to the digi arcade or something with his friends.
Thatâs cool. I personally canât really see him bonding with them all that much just because theyâre technically âthe same ageâ. Aegio/jupitermon not having much of a bond with the other OXII members was one of my gripes with the Story overall, they come off more as co workers than friends. Unlike in Crusaders where you can tell that they have better and established connections to each other, but thatâs en entirely different game..
I thought it would be nice if this version of Aegiomon/Jupitermon bonded with Vulcanusmon more because of his love of figures, but I remember he seems to be rather dismissive of them, which is pretty interesting given that the story likes to push how similar he is to Yuu but Aegiomon just shows utter indifference to what Yuu might like like Agent Alpha and action figures/toys, but maybe heâd be more of a casual fan.
the reason junomon wears is a mask is so that no one can see her make klay-tier facial expressions whenever aegiomon so much as looks at her (or when anything bad happens to his sistergf)
^the face of the most mentally stable digimon in illiad
Junomon and Vulcanusmon having this kind of Heath Ledgerâs Joker-like slasher mouths đ this is very inspiring đ
I heard the Switch version is out, so Iâm gonna be a bit more careful with possible Time Stranger spoilers, although this in particular doesnât exactly count as âspoilersâ as these two have been around since 2013, but just in case.
MOTHERWIFE WIFEMOTHER
I will forever be dragging Time Strangerâs sloppy writing and execution to the mud but all the accidental âlore accurateâ Greek myth and Digimon lore will forever be hilarious, canât stop me from having fun with this aspect. This is what they get for ignoring the lore, they made their bed so they gotta lie in it.
To be clear, I donât care/donât mind if new creators ignored/disregard the lore as long as they back it up with good story/writing which Time Stranger did not achieve imo, my honeymoon phase with this game is over and good lord the writing is insultingly bad, the more I revisit it the worst it gets. I wonder if the story is better if you have zero knowledge in Digimon or the OXII as a group.
Cleaned up this old sketch of Aegiochusmon and Inori I posted on twitter. Originally it looks like one of those corny wedding photos (unintentional, I wanted fluff), but now it looks like heâs feeling her lmao
Anyway, I Like/Hate how Inoriâs personality is literally taken from Aegiomonâs Reference Book page. She is literally created for him.
What I like is that I can definitely see future digimon installments doing this more often (with the preexisting Digimons, not the new ones) since a lot of the older digimon are decades old and its nice if theyâre taken out of their dusty shelves once in a while. Theyâre essentially the human charactersâ âsoul partnerâ its a convenient way to create the human characters and match them with their digimon partnersâ biography.
What I hate is the implications that Aegiomon got its personality from bland ass Inori, thatâs giving her way too much fucking credit for a character who doesnât do much, especially since Aegiomon is a decade old character who recently got his spotlight after being stuck in mobile game hell for years lol but luckily I donât think the story was implying that.
I still think about all the the wasted character and plot potentials from TS
I have to say the storyâs twist gotta be the saddest and hilarious thing to come out of Digimon Story, its so out of pocket that I kinda like/hate /respect it.
Warning big Time Stranger Spoilers below
Short complaint about the twist:
Having the Agentâs true identity being Aegiomon, or an extension/modified version of the same Aegiomon we follow throughout the game is simultaneously sad and hilarious, because a lot of the players iâve seen just did not give a shit about Inori. The last streamer Iâve watched flat out forgot about her existence đ đ
I know not everyone shares the same feeling of indifference towards the main characters but even within the game itself the Agent doesnât seem to react all that much to the them (the two characters they supposedly cared so much about) disappearing. âIâm worried about my friendsâ this sounds a lot like someone who just lost their friends at the mall or just has some minor inconvenience and not losing them because they just disappeared from the universe.
Its a stark contrast to how Aegiomon feels about Inori, Aegiomon who is willing to destroy the world and kill himself just so nothing bad can happen to Inori.
Its also a huge contrast to how the MC was in CS and HM. The MC in those games had inner thoughts and monologues that showcased how they feel in certain moments and scenes, whereas the Agent in TS does not, and Iâm not counting the Operator as the Agentâs âinner thoughtsâ and even if I tried they felt too separated from them to be their inner thoughts.
â(its also my hc that the agentâs personality is like an amalgamation of my own take on them and how they are drawn in the official art and all the funny vtuber/streamers Iâve watched playing this game, which.. sadly the majority of them did not give a crap about Inori and the accidental result is kinda sad and funny to think about..)
Edit: Iâve been pondering about this and I just remembered what the Operator said during the twist reveal:
âInoriâs little brother was a big fan of a certain character. He often liked to pretend he was that character⌠Your appearance, your memories⌠they were created in part from the memories of Inoriâs little brother.â -Operator
Suddenly Agent Yuki being a blank, self-insert MC with very a generic action hero personality that lacks depth, made a lot of sense, because essentially they are how a little kid (Inoriâs little brother) perceives them or at least how he remembers them. Or if its from Aegiomonâs recollection of the show/character, which he did not even bother to remember the name of the anime even after Inori said the title.
so.. of course, them basically being a self-insert MC made sense because Inoriâs little brother likes to pretend to be that character and Aegiomon tried taking her brother place by also fulfilling Yuuâs wish to literally modifying himself to become Agent Alpha (Agent Yuki)
It also brought up an interesting question, does a digimon know the concept of play-pretend? Did Aegiomon took Yuuâs play time too literal? Iâm guessing probably not.
Anyway, in the end both Yuu/Agent Yuki saved Aegiomon twice if you look back at it.
I have so many gripes with Time Strangersâ writing and character wise, especially compare to CS and HM, but I love all the endless (and accidental) Aegiomon is Zeus jokes
Inspired by Kakudrawmonâs original image and Jaharaâs TS stream, she roleplays as Inoriâs stepmother, which I find very hilarious given the twist.
Of course I drew both versions because I have to
This is hilarious in hindsight if you finished Time Stranger, but also oddly sweet if youâre at that part of the game.
Dialogues from the game, except Aegiomonchusmon was Aegiomon.
Iâm kind of curious what kind of Partner/Tamer Inori is for Aegiomon, I always assumed sheâs a âdigidestineâ type partner, which means her emotions and well-being are linked to Aegiomon, its how Elecmon evolved to Aegiomon (like Digimon Survive type partnership). âI want to become stronger, so i can protect Cooâ this is what Inori wished to be, so Elecmon evolved to a strong protector, itâs exactly what Aegiomon becomes after that, meaning, heâs probably Inoriâs inner reflection, heâs everything Inori wished to be? at that moment at least.
Then comes the scene where we have Aegiomon evolving to Aegiochusmon, which from how I interpret it comes from Aegiomonâs need to protect Inori and not from Inori having her moment of strength (think crest activation from the Adventure anime) so Iâm guessing sheâs more like his Tamer, meaning she isnât emotionally tied to Aegiomon the same way the partners from Adventure/02 and Survive are? this is an interesting topic. Anyway, its embarrassing how weirdly invested I am in this, something something Digimon and Carl Jung or whatever idk
