Them fighting words
[image: Koth is piloting a ship in the cockpit, and Tank is standing behind him. Koth says “Emperor Valkorion talks to you, right? He have any advice? The Emperor is a great man. If anyone can help you take down Arcann, it’s him.” Tank says “If you knew what I do about him, you’d run. The man killed billions.” Koth shuts his eyes and says “He was always good to Zakuul.” end image]
Okay so stuff I always wonder when I get to this part.
When you tell Koth that Valkorion killed billions, he doesn’t say “No, he didn’t” or “that doesn’t sound like him” or “how do you know it was him and not (whatever)”. He says “He was good to Zakuul.”
And I wonder why that’s what he objects on.
A couple options: First is that he genuinely believes the Sith Emperor who killed all life on Ziost is a different person, but from experience with Lana knows that she/the outlander won’t believe it so he’s defending him with something he thinks they will believe (that he was good to Zakuul).
Second is that he thinks that maybe Valkorion did kill billions, but he was good to Zakuul so he’s still a great man. That doesn’t really seem to fit with his characterization wrt every single other decision he makes with non valkorion people (in that he seems to like... genuinely value life and people). Could be because of the place Valkorion has in Zakuulan society that he gets special treatment, or Koth feels awkward questioning him
or could be like... he is trying to justify it not to the outlander, but to himself. Like “These guys are telling me Valkorion is bad, but he was good to me? If I accept this, was everything I was serving wrong, even back before Arcann was Emperor? Would Valkorion have ordered us to kill civilians like Arcann’s people did? What does that even mean for my life? Time to deflect and try to not think on it.” It would be good if we actually did get to see him think on it though.
anyway just trying to... idk take a stab at his and thought process
[image: Dialogue from Valkorion reading “Scions believe there is no greater power than destiny. They cannot bleieve you exist outside its influence. But we know better....” Next he says “The Scions are driven by revenge, but they require fate’s compliance. We are above such negotiations. Destiny is merely the conduit for our will.” end image]
[image: Saeyt Doraz (Tank) asks “The Knights killed the Scions on Arcann’s orders? Why?” Heskal says “Because he thinks himself beyond the reach of destiny.”
[image: Arcann in front of an altar saying “Scions have always worshipped at the false altar of fate. That is why I kill them. I am beyond prophecy.” end image]
parallels i noticed, tho both arcann and valkorion would probably get really mad at you if you pointed it out
sacrifices (lana’s letter after chap 8) just noting for character stuff
We'll be arriving in Odessen soon. I don't know when we'll have a moment to simply talk, but I need to get something off my chest. I knew going into this fight, sacrifices would be necessary. Such is the nature of war. But seeing the damage you suffered at Arcann's hands... You should be dead. I spent the last five years searching for you because I knew you were our only hope for victory, but I didn't think about the toll it might take on you. Koth did. He's always harping on those things. All I cared about was rescuing you so that you could rescue us. I wonder if that was unfair of me. Please know that I never take what you endure for granted. No matter what happens, the galaxy will be forever in your debt.
[image: Lana Beniko is looking up at Tank (off screen, so the viewer) saying “Easy, easy. Your body went through quite an ordeal. We weren’t sure you’d ever wake up.” Koth is standing behind her. He says “Never met anyone who took a lightsaber to the gut and lived to tell.” Tank says “Don’t tell me it’s been another five years.” end image]
idk i liked this interaction look they’re acting almost like friends!
[image: Tank is in a cockpit of a ship, hunched over in pain, and Tora walks up to her and says “Hey... you dying? Can I have your stuff?” Tank closes her eyes in a grimace and says “It’s not as bad as it looks.” the next screencap is tank collapsed on the ground with tora standing up and senya kneeling next to her. end image]
okay so i’m an asshole so this sequence of screencaps cracked me up (mostly tank being like “i’m fine” and then immediately collapsing on the floor).
also tora you’re so... classy.
[image: First screencap is Arcann stabbing Tank (outlander PC) through the stomach with a lightsaber. He says “feel that, Father?” from further away, koth says “no!” and is looking around. Next, he opens his eyes wide and says “I did’nt run all the way back here to watch you die.” end image]
anyway I accidently didn’t hit the screencap button fast enough when koth shoots the thing that knocks arcann down, so you can’t actually see him getting hero moment but. its there
poor tank, first i screencap her carbonite freezing, then i do her getting stabbed. don’t worry, tank, you’ll get your chance to stab back.
also i have no idea what makes it koth or lana who saves you. i know in some playthroughs (But not tank’s) i’ve gotten lana
Also /random but i wanna know how senya won that fight against vaylin
i mean isn’t vaylin supposed to be super powerful?
i’m not saying senya’s not, but senya said she couldn’t force the kids to go with her when they were children vaylin’s an adult now... and lana was all like “we’re not ready for vaylin... not yet” or w/e, implying she’d be really hard to fight
so either senya is one of the most powerful characters in game (which i dont have a problem with, but if that’s true maybe acknowledge it?) or the writers weren’t thinking during the senya/vaylin fight...
also i know like chance could play a roll in the fight, but you know it wasn’t really said how senya beat vaylin and assuming it was luck seems lazy.like was it luck? did senya manage to get the upper hand thru a clever strategy? I mean she does have like 30+ years of fighting experience on Vaylin...
but it seems weird we dont know
kind of a minor thing to nitpick but im in a nitpicky mood atm....
