Ok, but as a kid, she looked up to and apprenticed Lady Iskra (the lady who invented most modern elven technology: eg. obscurers, Spyballs, nexuses. She is also Dex’s technopathy mentor)
But, since she is a member of the Black Swan and secrecy is key, she couldn't take any credit

She saw that some human kids play with Easy-Bake Ovens, and was h o r r i f i e d at how impractical they were
So of course she had to get one so she could do as her name suggests
Although she won’t admit it, she kinda just adopted Dex
Like, she’s so fond of him, she doesn’t mind when he watches over her shoulder or tries to help her with her creations
Tinker tells herself it’s because he gives her an alternative perspective

Even if Dex is a bit jelly of her at first (which she finds hilarious)
She takes Dex to Disneyland, just for laughs
They wind up trying and succeeding in figuring out the physics behind the rides n’ stuff
Since Dex is bi (he liked Sophie and he’s also into guys, you can’t change my mind), and since he’s come to trust Tinker, he comes out to her first
And for once, she doesn’t ask questions
And when he asks if she is part of the LGBTQ+ community
She just smirks and turns back to her work
Eventually, she tells Dex that he needs to meet two people very close to her
She takes out a Spyball and shows him a human girl
She’s an engineer, a trans woman named Linda, Tinker explains, and they used to date before the elves were forbidden to interact with humans
After that, she took Dex to Quinlin’s apartment, where they find Quinlin busy working
He sees Tinker and frowns a bit, saying Livvy’s in the other room
When they enter that room, Livvy jumps up and hugs Tinker
And Dex connects the dots
Livvy confirms, Tinker was one of the reasons she divorced Quinlin
So yes, Livvy and Tinker date on the downlow
So Livvy, Tinker, Edaline, and Juline all act as Dex’s mom
So that’s Dex and Tinker’s little secret
Tinker also makes Dex a robotic tomple for his birthday
And Dex makes her a bangle that lights up without the use of fire
They have healthy competitions
Tinker accepts Dex’s advice, no question
Tinker attends Dex’s important school events
Including when he finally graduates
She’s the one who comforts him when he’s struggling with the decision on whether or not to sign up for matchmaking
