I'm currently planning a full kotor 3 fanfic (instead of studying) and I'm trying desperately to ignore how poetic Revan dying would be. Why can't I write some cool star war without the tragedy brain worms settling in. Why must I wish to harm my boy

Hey wouldn't it be cool if the main reason she could defeat him was because of the wound she carries from following his orders at the end of the Mandalorian Wars
Wouldn't it be cool if, after Revan fell to the dark side (in part) after learning he abandoned his wife with an unborn son, she couldnt talk him down so she instead ripped the source of his strength from him and left him for dead on an awful planet. Then she returned to the Republic to finish rebuilding the Jedi Order to be way more proactive and militaristic against threats to the Republic, in order to preserve Revan's memory and to prevent more tragedies like the Mandalorian Wars, but in the end this is the exact mindset that will (in 4000 years time) lead to the prequels

In KotOR 2 (if the stars align)… Carth tells the Exile that Revan left after KotOR 1… that she said [A] there was a path she needed to walk alone, [B] it was one she would never take anyone she loved on, and [C] asked him to stay behind, tasked him with rebuilding and fortifying the republic. Important.
The way she spoke left him waiting for her return, whether it was her intention or not, and this implies some things about her demeanor and hopes at the time too.
(For the record… this scene he describes has lived rent free in my head for nigh on two decades, so thanks for that BioWare…)
With Carth’s help, you also realize that your ship, the Ebon Hawk (beloved), is the same one Revan left with. You found it discarded on Malachor V, which is ominous at best.
Three possible implications follow…
1. Revan died on Malachor V.
Darth Traya and her apprentices are suspect here, but the way Kreia talks about Revan leads me to believe this is not the case.
2. Revan is alive somewhere on the surface of Malachor V.
The Exile and their companions find no evidence of Revan’s presence though, and Traya makes no comment supporting this theory. It’s possible, but unlikely due to the length of time she would have needed to survive with no resources, and especially in light of the planet’s nature, which is worse than a barren wasteland. Its a wound in the force, a siphon on life.
3. Revan abandoned the Ebon Hawk on Malachor V as part of her journey.
I find this the most likely scenario. It raises other significant questions, like where Revan went, and how she was able to reach the next step of her journey, but doesn’t contradict anything in canon. It actually echoes canon events of the past.
Theory 3 aligns with Revan’s history.
It’s worth noting that Revan was canonically an altruistic, feeling character, as evidenced by her refusal to let the outer rim worlds fall, and even among her enemies is characterized as charismatic, decisive, intelligent, and above all, a brilliant strategist. The thing about Revan is that she was always willing to make the hard call. More than that, she was willing to carry the cost.
If the Mandalorian Wars changed Revan, it was only in amplifying this quality. She was still a defender of the people. A hero of the Republic.
This doesn’t change when Revan and Malak retreat into dark space at the end of the war. They may be battered and ragtag, but their fundamental characters are ultimately unchanged.
And this is where we tread into headcanon & theory…
To me, this circular narrative where Revan disappears again indicates that she suddenly remembered something from her past — something she and Malak discovered out there that was important enough to drop everything for and cut all ties, even with the people she loved most.
Something more than the Star Forge 😳
Because what was the Star Forge? Only a tool. Specifically a tool for building an army.
Revan, always more attuned than Malak, would recognize it's alignment for what it was. The Star Forge doesn’t corrupt on sight… Revan wasn’t ruined the moment she came in contact... As evidenced by the end of KotOR I, it takes time. It takes focus. It takes alignment to its core purpose, which is innately dark side.
Altruistic Revan would need a REASON to use it, a reason to risk that.
And nothing is more ominous than considering what made cost-counting Revan willing to risk a fall… willing to risk becoming what she’d sacrificed everything to destroy, undoing all the work of the Mandalorian Wars, to earn that army.
Begs the question: What did Revan & Malak find in dark space?
And why did a light-aligned Revan go back? This time, no Star Forge, no natural armies, no companions.
This time, Revan who was always calculating and carrying cost decided to go alone and if there was cost to carry, carry it alone. Leave it all behind, pit all the quiet of a single person and all the cunning of the a strategist against it instead.
But in case she failed, charged Carth with one last task, an impossible one… to rebuild and fortify the still staggering republic, broken by her own hand.
A last desperate hope of defense.
If this is beginning to feel familiar... it should.
An unnamed, unknown threat hiding somewhere out there in dark space too powerful for an entire galaxy to withstand?
One person alone against it?

Been having KOTOR III feels recently so here’s a random dump of ideas I still sorely wish we could have had in either that damn Revan novel or in ToR / Shadow of Revan. These thoughts will try to maintain the general canon of The Old Republic and just suggest changes to what happened three hundred years before in the Revan novel.
-Malachor V follow up. It is heavily implied that Revan was cleaning house at Malachor by purposely putting the Exile in a position where they had no choice but to use the mass shadow generator. I would have loved to see the Exile find and confront Revan, demanding an explanation for their actions. It would be rather tragic if the Exile never does get an answer because those are some of Revan’s memories that the Jedi succeeded in destroying for good.
-Kreia’s teachings. I adore Kreia’s philosophy and feelings towards the Force and really wanted them to be continued or addressed further. I love the thought of the Exile personally adopting some of Kreia’s teachings. The line “But there must always be a Darth Traya, one that holds the knowledge of betrayal. Who has been betrayed in their heart, and will betray in turn” seems like something that could easily apply to the Exile. Revan betrayed them, the Council betrayed them, Kreia herself betrayed them. The Exile is swimming in betrayal and I would have loved to see the Exile later choose to betray Revan and their plans in some way.
-Confrontation between protagonists due to role reversal. During the Mandolorian and Jedi Civil War, Revan was focused on the big picture while the Exile and others were focused on immediate battles they were tasked with. I really like the idea of having their roles be reversed with the Exile focusing on the actual big picture of how the Force is responsible for war after war in its ongoing struggle for balance while Revan is only focusing on the smaller fight with the Sith Empire.
-Not changing the general story of The Old Republic, how would the Exile react to seeing / sensing the Emperor? Would they recognize him as a wound in the Force? Would they see similarities to Nihilus? If the two came into conflict what would happen when one person is free of the Force’s influence yet can still manipulate it while the other has spent his existence consuming and bending it to his own will?
-A portrayal of the Force as the undeniable enemy to stable life in the galaxy. If The Old Republic is to still happen then the Exile and Revan still have to fail at their attempt to destroy the Sith Empire. So, how do they fail? Personally, I would have wanted to see Revan kill the Exile and I would have wanted the Force to direct them to do so. Perhaps the Exile uses Nathema in a similar way to what Kreia planned on Malachor V. They want to create an echo that would deafen all in the galaxy to the Force, ending the threat of all future Jedi and Sith conflicts. The Force recognizes what the Exile is doing and directs Revan with visions of the Exile bringing ruin to the galaxy, though maybe conveniently leaving out visions of how peaceful a galaxy deaf to the Force would be. (I just want conflict between these two characters ok?)
-Echoes that continue on into the future. Despite the Exile dying, an idea I like if done in a meaningful way which the novel DID NOT DO, I don’t want Kreia’s teachings to end with them. I want them to continue on in echoes, spoken about softly and only heard by a few. I think that Scourge would have been an ideal character to take on Kreia’s teachings of strength for instance. He seems like the type of person that would understand or believe that strength comes from the self and not other people, other things or even the Force. He would never accept the strength / aid of others as it would not be strength from his own will and would therefore make him weak.
If not Scourge taking on these teachings then perhaps an original Sith character that listens to and begins to agree with the teachings and philosophy of the Exile. Most people have seen the general KOTOR 3 concept art of the character Naresha (the sensuous dress armor in ToR is based on her design) but if not here she is.
Without any information on what her character would have been like, I enjoy thinking that she joined Revan and the Exile’s plot to destroy the Emperor. She initially does this to gain more power herself but eventually begins to follow the group to learn more of the Exile’s beliefs. She could then survive Revan’s and the Exile’s failed attempt to destroy the Emperor and quietly continue to pass down the teachings of Kreia and the Exile. Maybe have her form a secret society that shows up in ToR?
So I’m sure someone else has thought of this idea before, but wouldn’t it be awesome to implement Final Fantasy 7 Remake’s new combat mechanics for a hypothetical KOTOR III?
