Can you help me with something? Back in 2016 or 2017 (after Shin Godzilla's release) there was a Japanese direct to tv (?) movie about a mutant salamander that kinda looked like Shin attacking a village. It got some attention on here and a few other places. Do you remember what it was called? Or what ever happened to it?
That's Koujin (2018). Still no translation, unfortunately, but it's on archive.org.

Traditional Japanese kaiju eiga set in the 1700s. If you can overlook the not so good CGI it looks promising.
Japanese fans were quick to notice Koujin’s design bears Shin Godzilla’s influence.
