I wanted to include this in my last post but decided against it because it would be repetitive since I already had an example of 'a joke about SA before Grian gets r@ped for the first time in KoV'.

The example is, I think in episode 5, after the trio escape from the dungeon they stumble upon a sleeping guard who's crouching and facing away from the trio. Sam (I think) soon discovers that if he lines his sword up with the guard just right, it'll look like he's sticking the sword up his... you know. And after he discovers this, Taurtis joins in and does the same.

Now, obviously, this is a very shitty and insensitive joke, but I think it's also an illustration of KoV Sam and Taurtis's characters. Which is, they were assholes the entire time.

Now, I can’t confirm whether or not Grian laughed during this scene, but I think it's interesting how he never does or says anything weird like this himself. (The closest might be where he hits on a witch and then kills her in a 'wizard's duel' but, one, she seemed into it, and two, I don't think we could really see what was happening during that conversation so it's kinda up for debate what went down. (And, sorry, I'm being a bit of a Grian apologist here, but I head canon that duel was more formally agreed upon and consensual than it seems).

Anyway, I think it's kinda insane how no one mentions that scene. Obviously, the reason why is because what happens to Grian afterwards is so much worse, but I think it demonstrates how baked-in r@pe jokes unfortunately were and how Sam and Taurtis were always (or at least mostly) the ones making them.

I'm writing this with one hand since, patch (my cat) is sitting on my other. 

Sos i was gone for a while, no motivation, and apparently I can only write when life is busy! But i'm back!

Also got a new obsession, ‘School bus graveyard’ . It's a webtoon thriller, you should totally check it out!! 

(I never rlly watched KoV, but i've read a few fanfics about them so if this is out of character sorry :> + why it's so short )

“Sam, are you sure this is safe?” Taurus asked, his voice muffled by the mask that covered his face. The three of them were standing in front of a strange purple portal? Inside a cave, it cast an eerie light on the group but Sam was determined to go in.

“He has a point, Taurtis. It’s either we go in, or we go back and get put in jail..so.” Grian added, leaning against his staff. 

“See! Even Gree-on agrees.” Sam ran through the portal, leaving the other two to follow behind sadly.

Okay, they were slightly off mission. (Whatever the mission had been in the first place, do they really know?) This definitely wasn’t Valor. In fact, if Sam had heard properly, they were on a completely different server. 

Sam stopped thinking (Amazing, I know.) and decided to look around the.. Base they had been put into. It was essentially.. A castle, on some floating rocks? How that works, no clue. But it didn't have a door, so the others had needed to block it off so they couldn't leave. But honestly, they could have given them some proper furniture.

“Do you think they are going to come back? I don't want to be here forever.” Taurtis asked from the corner, “Plus. Grian’s freaking me out…” Sam looked towards Taurtis, head tilted with confusion, Taurtis simply pointed to the corner, where Grian was facing the wall and muttering to himself.

He slowly walked closer so he could hear what Grian was saying. 

“Everything will be okay … You can not stop it.”

“G-”

“Everything will be okay … You have no choice.”

Sam Grabbed Grians shoulders, spinning him around to face him. “What the fuck kind of pep talk is that!? It's so creepy! And depressing!”

Grian pushed Sam off him, leaning against the wall. 

“It's called ‘Ominous Positivity.’”

Hot take.

(Maybe, not sure if anyone cares about this, it's me just me ranting).

I don't like it when people have headcanons, write fanfics, make art etc, about KoV that in some way ignore or invalidate the fcked up stuff that happens in it.

First off, I, personally, think there are two ways to interact with KoV.

1. Ignore it and pretend it doesn't exist.This is, honestly, probably the best and most logical way to deal with KoV. Unfortunately, I was not blessed with logic, so I'll have to settle for option two.

2. Talk about and explore the (unnecessary and extremely mishandled) themes of KoV.

What I don't like is when people create KoV content, but they just ignore the stuff that happened, like it doesn't exist.

Or when people headcanon it was 'all just a dream' or some bs like that.

Now, obviously, I can’t control how other people interpret media. And, honestly, I'm a staunch believer in "a diversity of opinion is always better" cause if we leash how people can talk about a piece of media, all of the art we make for that piece of media is going to turn stagnant as we just retread the same ideas over and over again.

But nothing grinds my gears more than people not interacting with KoV's themes. Cause when you do, I feel like you let KoV win. If you write an au where Sam and Taurtis weren't assholes and nothing bad happened to Grian, or if you think it was just some boardgames they played, you let KoV not be taken seriously!

You don't have to talk about the stuff that happened in it, cause they were just pretending in-universe! You might as well email SamGladiator saying that including R@PE in your MINECRAFT ROLEPLAY for KIDS was a totally normal idea, cause that's what you're getting across. KoV's VERY mishandled themes are so unserious you can just not talk about them when talking about KoV.

I'm sorry about that last paragraph, it might have been a bit far. I know people are having fun, I just don't think you can separate KoV from it's fcked up themes. Especially when Grian is involved. KoV has 10 episodes. Episode 5 is when it's uncomfortable themes start appearing. Actually, scratch that, episode ONE is when they start making jokes about sa.

For reference, it's after Taurtis states he doesn't want to go back to the dungeons, Sam asks 'do the guards visit you at night?' Obviously meaning 'do they assault you?' It's episode ONE and c!Sam (and, also cc!Sam) can't stop himself from joking that shit.

Honestly this just makes me really mad and, along with KoV Sam and Taurtis being irredeemable, cruel assholes who know exactly what they're doing, is the one hill I'll die on.
