[presenting Why So Lonely MV to represent JYP]
Me in my head: JYP makes the most effort out of the Big Three to reach out to a global market, evident in the obvious international representation in its groups. Foreign nationals and individuals who lived abroad make up about half of the members in almost all JYP groups. JYP hopes audiences in America, Japan, Thailand, China and most recently Australia can relate and will be drawn to their international idols. Another way JYP tries to appeal to audiences around the world is the diverse music genres its artists each specialize in. Although JYP artists have more of an R&B sound compared to SM and YG, they have no clearcut brand image like the godly visuals of SM or the bad-ass nonconformists in YG. If anything, JYP are the boys/girls next door with some sex appeal especially with early artists like Rain, 2PM, and Miss A. More recently, even the JYP signature music style is muddled with more recent groups like Day6 and Twice branching out to very different genres (alternative pop-rock and bubblegum pop respectively.) Wonder Girls was a group that dabbled in a lot of sounds in the 10 years they were active and their most recent release Why So Lonely shows a blend of R&B, reggae, and band sounds.
Me out loud: Yeah...this is Wonder Girls who unfortunately broke up this year but Why So Lonely was their latest release and you'll see they're more band-y...
