the problem isn't just that media literacy is slowly becoming a dying art. it's that people straight up do not pay attention when they watch tv/film anymore.

some of you really should be more embarrassed about bragging that you don't pay attention when you watch tv.
Look, I'm probably going to end up doing it anyway but I still want to know, would people or specifically my mutuals and followers be interested in more film recs posts from me?
i really wish it wasn't so difficult for people to understand that certain storylines and plot directions are not about the viewer. they are not about what we know or don't know. they are specifically about what the characters themselves know and don't know and sometimes, they are there for the purpose of the viewers knowing what is going on while the characters do not.
(1) of the funniest and probably most Australian things about my mum is that she absolutely hates swearing. She does not and will not swear ever so you'll never hear her say fuck or shit or anything like that and yet... she has zero compunction about calling someone a cunt 🤣🤣🤣
maybe i'm the one in the wrong here, i don't know but, whenever someone goes "i'm taking a stand on this issue or i'm against such and such because it's MY taxes paying for it", my first response is always "is that the only reason why you're against this or would you still care if your money wasn't involved?" and they always get so upset and so angry and i don't understand why because i think it's a perfectly reasonable question to ask. you literally made this all about you and your money and what the government is doing with your money so why wouldn't someone question if you would actually still care and if you would actually still be fighting for what's right if your money wasn't involved?
potentially controversial film opinion but i'm gonna say it anyway, normalise watching films at home in parts and across multiple days if you are unable, for whatever reason, but especially, disability, to watch that film in one sitting. you are still watching that film. it might not be in the traditional sense but, you are still watching it.
Fascism is on the rise. Propaganda is everywhere. We're in a literacy crisis. Everyone is becoming increasingly paranoid.
This is a terrifying and dangerous combination!
