If you own a 3DS and enjoy RPGs (especially old-school Final Fantasy), I'd definitely say its a must have. More past the break...
The art is ridiculously amazing and it's not afraid to show it off: when you're idle in an area, it'll zoom out some to show the surroundings.
The battle system feels familiar and yet refreshing with the brave / default mechanics adding a nice little risk / reward kind of strategy to it. Plus, the ability to change difficulty and encounter rate on the fly with no penalty means there's not really a grind at all (or, only as much as you make it). Add in the fact that you can also change battle speed on the fly and automate it means you can "grind" without it feeling like it.
A lot of things in the game are actually tied to the music: from day-night cycles to special attack modifier durations / chains.
Lastly, the social aspect is properly done: Each day you can get up to 4 random players from the internet as a psudo-street pass. This makes rebuilding the village pretty easy, and gives you one-time summons. That being said, having people on your friend list that own the game is better with the Abilink system: where you can borrow your friend's job progress onto a character.
There's a minor microtransaction system that can be completely ignored, thankfully.
I'm on chapter 3 or 4... and while I've been choosing to go at a slower pace, its still something that I'd highly recommend.
My only gripe would be this one early character that you meet... that I feel is kinda... just no... I'm hoping that my encounters with him have ended now that I've left that continent behind AFAIK.
