My first whack at Ailani Kanoe, my Kreplokian “Lilo & Stitch” OC (and all too late, I realize I forgot to add the UGF Captain badge but oh well). This is the (slight) gremlin that isn’t taller than the Pelekais’ front door. She was orphaned in a war on her home planet and feeling both that she had nothing to lose and that someone should make the effort to either prevent war all together or at least better protect civilians during wars, she enlisted in the United Galactic Federation’s Galactic Armada. She heard the tales of Captain Gantu’s triumphs and quickly became a fan, inspired by him to do her best. She soon climbed the ranks but was disheartened heavily when she was given the rank of Captain just after hearing of Gantu’s forced retirement. When she was presented with the task of going to Earth to keep an eye on him, she happily took it, in the hopes that she might also be able to help restore him as Captain. However, during her descent to Earth, something in her ship when terribly wrong and she totaled the thing as she crashed in Hawaii. She was forced to ask for Gantu and Reuben’s help only to find that there wasn’t much they could do. But Hämsterveil overhead her plight and made her a deal- assist Gantu (and Reuben) in capturing the Experiments and he would supply her with upgraded replacement parts.

At a later point, Ailani becomes the mother of four girls (Nalu, Tane, Mala and Anuenue) and four boys (Makai, Wana, Nahoa and Makoa) from Gantu after falling in love with the ex-Captain.

How do you think Gantu would react to someone crushing on him?

He's usually awkward about it and he also isn't usually into it or sure he likes it. I'm not sure why that amuses me, it just does. Maybe it's because it makes me feel like I see a potential love interest character challenge there? Idk. But I decided to start working on an OC that would try to tackle that "challenge". (As well as kids for them cuz I enjoy creating characters of all ages, I guess.)

(I would of course change the hands and feet here and add some cheek/lower jawbone tusks and she's missing the dorsal fin on her back. I would probably also make some changes to her shark tail after I decide on a specific shark species to base her on. I also need to make her eyes COMPLETELY blue, there shouldn't be pupils/irises that are super visible like this.)

This is a character that's kind of my own species inspired by Gantu's. Their species are still close enough to be able to mate though genetically. I'm still coming up with a proper name for it. Her name is Ailani Kanoe. She's the one I mentioned as being "not taller than this door", because I wanted to play with the dynamic of Gantu having someone stuck to him that was half his height or less. Her height is like 6'1", so she's taller than most humans but still much shorter than Gantu. She unfortunately lost her family in a war when she was quite young and it led her to decide to join the United Galactic Federation's Galactic Armada when she came of age. She was climbing the ranks via her missions and was actually a first lieutenant when Gantu was fired unceremoniously during the pilot film for the animated series. The news of his departure disappointed her, as she had been a fan of him for his accomplishments before that point. Ailani felt because of those accomplishments that this couldn't just be Gantu's own fault and so, when she was assigned the role of Captain and commanded to keep an eye on him, to prevent him from going rogue (again), she gladly took the chance. However, on her flight to Earth, she was temporarily blinded from a massive spark created by Sparky, which led to her ship sustaining substantial damage and crashing. (I may rewrite that though after I review the pilot film.) With her ship damaged to the point of communications with the Grand Council Woman becoming disabled, Ailani is forced to approach Gantu and Reuben for help, only to find out that there isn't much they can do with their own ship out of service and at that point, Hamsterveil offers to have upgraded parts created and sent to her in exchange for her services in helping Gantu and Reuben capture the other Experiments.

Ailani can be a little hotheaded, justice oriented, goofy, fun-loving, energetic and a little loud at times. She is also generally kind-hearted, though skeptical at first when faced with giving second chances. Ailani often annoys Gantu with her jokes and antics, even makes him wonder how she ever managed to climb the ranks because of it, but he actually kind of enjoys it after a while. He curses her hotheadedness though because it can make her make some reckless choices sometimes. She'll claim her dream is to one day see all wars completely over for good and that's not entirely untrue since it was war that took her family from her but what she probably will not voice is how badly not having a family made her want one again.

Eventually, she and Gantu have about eight shark pups but I'm only gonna talk about one in this post. In total though, the girls are Nalu, Tane, Mala and Anuenue and the boys are Makai, Wana, Nahoa and Makoa.

(Ugh, NEEEEEED to draw this one myself as well because she isn't supposed to have those ears, she needs little cheek tusks, her eyes need to be a solid blue, her feet need to not look so human and I need to make changes to her tail, too. I also need to put a little more gray in her scales.)

This is their eldest pup, Nalu. She's a bit more of a serious type but she isn't without her joking side. Nalu acts like a loner sometimes but it's just an act. She actually really enjoys spending time with those she's close to. The two characters she is most likely to be close friends with in my AU are her sister Mala and Lilo's daughter. Like her mother, Nalu is kind of hotheaded and energetic. She can be quite protective of her family and friends as well. I'm also still working on likes and dislikes for all of them but I've already decided that Nalu just really, really likes pizza topping style mushrooms as a snack.
