MARDI GRAS TREASURES...

1892 Rex Ball invitation.

Original and superb Mardi Gras invitation to the Rex Ball, 1892 titled “ Symbolism of Colors” . In the shape of a lotus , all 12 die-cut petals fold into the center of the card. Interior “petals” offer scenes from the watercolor floats pates. Design by Bror Anders Wikstrom.  

As seen on the cover and page 63 of Henri Schindler’s book Mardi Gras Treasures / Invitations of the Golden Age.
