Spoonie’s First Halloween
So Halloween is traditionally a really shit day for me. The end to a really shit month. October happens to be full of a buncha things that trigger my PTSD, which makes the whole month rather hellish. But then there’s the extra added stress of physical illness. I have ended up in the emergency room the last 5 halloweens (or rather the day on which I celebrate halloween, which varies year to year. Im not gonna get drunk on a monday, for example). Freshman year of college it was an asthma attack, the next year a pneumothorax, the year after a gallbladder attack. ETc. etc. etc. Yesterday, was my celebration day for halloween. Hallowbaloo. And an amazing thing happened. I went out with my wonderful boyfriend, who was ROCKING the drag, my best friend SamIAm, and another friend Nick. NOT ONLY did I consume a comfortable amount of alcohol, but I HAD FUN. There was no panicking, no mental or physical health breakdowns. It was just a night of fun and friendship. The curse of Halloween has been broken. Apparently my brain and my body have decided to give me back that one night of fun, and I could not be more happy. It’s all about spending it with the right people. Love and spoons as always, Nicole
