Blankets were askew, sheets thrown haphazardly across the bed and floor of the bedroom. Lucas has been comfy for the first few moments during his wake-up. Shuffling on the pillow; moving his head away from the light splaying through the drapes, he shifted over on his side to fall back into a sleep but instead his leg nudged something warm.
That had been the end of his blissful morning moments because the pounding of an impending hangover and a sudden realisation to the mistake he’d made last night came crashing back to him.
“Great.” he muttered, noting Kris curled into the sheets across from him. His eyes naturally glazing over her bare body amongst the strewn covers. Sighing quietly with his own annoyance, he conceded to leaving the warm confines of the bed and threw the covers off of himself, eyes scouring the floor for wherever he’d ended up tossing his clothes to the previous night.
Greenman wouldn’t have put it past his ex to have somehow thrown them away in the night just so he’d have to traipse through Grimstone in his birthday suit. He slipped off the edge of the bed, his arms lifting to stretch his tightened muscles and the cracking of his back reminding him that he had been in a state of comfort before he wanted to make himself scarce. With his head throbbing, he didn’t want to engage Kristen in the morning conversation.
They’d both gotten their obvious frustrations out last night; alcohol had played a powerful drug in that, but there had been a myriad of reasons why their relationship ended. By god, let’s not talk about that with her. She’s a liability.
He spotted his joggers in the corner, beside a plastic square wrapper. Oh thank fuck, drunk me has sense. Snatching the bottoms up, he started on slipping them on, his eyes only briefly darting to Kris in the bed and he was hoping he’d get away without incident.
Lucas has grown good at the breaking and leaving without incident thing, came with his territory; Kristen wasn’t as easy as cracking a combination lock though, she was layers and layers of complexity that Greenman didn’t have time to unravel, and she didn’t want to begin to unpick his; they were mutually beneficially these days for nothing more to each other than their drunken antics. That didn’t much mean Luc was interested in throwing spats back and forth with her. and even he was surprised they still seemed to end up in bed whenever they were intoxicated.
