idk i was thrown into this dynamic by a fic and i fucking looooooove it … the duality is so fire ….. i also just like jealous ferryman bc heheh … silly ….. AND also cuck or fujoshi ferryman . supporting their radiance thru everything yassss
also (unrelated to shipping) one time i saw a comment about the ferryman that destroyed me . the ferryman was going to die either way . whether v1 chooses to fight them , or if they continue on peacefully , the end is still the same . the ferryman is either dead (fully confirmed , you kill them yourself) , or the leviathan crashes the ship and theyre Probably hella fucking dead . gabriel is not there to save them this time , when their ship crashes and the roaring waves eat and grab at them .
it doesnt matter what v1 does . whether it spares them or not , it doesnt matter . hell , maybe even fighting and killing them yourself is more of a mercy than leaving and letting them see their ship , their everything , be destroyed — with no one to save them this time . no radiance , no light , no gabriel . a fight to the death is a ferryman’s tradition , after all , and dying for a fight to protect their ship ? i feel is much more fulfilling than watching helplessly as everything falls apart around you , as you fall deeper into the ocean , with gabriel , your one and only hope , there no more . is it just another failure in gabriel’s part ? unable to save this poor soul ? more guilt to haunt him ?
sparing the ferryman does no one any favors . it does not save them from death . all it does is lower your score .

AAAANYWAY so yeah i fear ferryman is also kind of doomed by the narrative . v2 x ferryman anyone /silly
but um . Yeah :))) i think ferrygabe is cute but i mainly enjoy it when paired with gabv1el . because i am a gabv1el loving LOSER and i enjoy the duality of their dynamics a lot . ferryman is a silly little guy and so very doomed by the narrative (aka Heaven . those assholes) and they depress me a little bit !
also theyre like the reason for the first time we see gabriel as like .. an okay-ish person (THIS NEXT PART IS MAINLY GONNA B ABT GABRIEL SAWRY …….) . act 1 , gabriel is portrayed like an asshole . the book in limbo showing him as a false savior , the book in lust talking about the horrors he committed to the just and benevolent ruler of lust in front of all of his subjects (a public execution and gore fest) , and his whole attitude towards v1 during and after the fight — it all makes him out to be some self-righteous crybaby and generally just an awful person . a horrible first impression , really …
but you read his terminal entry and it says how heaven adores him for his kind and radiant personality . how they prefer him over the council bc of this . and its like ..? that doesnt match up . he’s Highly unlikable in act 1 , and when we see the act 1 cutscene , its like . whatever . he’s being all angsty and edgy and Maybe u feel a little bad for him (bc jesus fucking christ man) but thats pity . he’s still Unlikable as all hell .
then act 2 rolls around and uhhhh well the book in greed doesnt necessarily help his case LMAO , talking abt him tearing down greed’s revolution against heaven by killing their leader . but then there’s wrath , and the book in there (aka the ferryman’s diary LOOOL) is so different to what we’ve seen gabriel as . sure , we’ve Heard of his “radiant personality” in the terminal entry , but its far more interesting to see someone writing about their own personal experience with gabriel . how he saved their life and comforted them as they weeped , held them close .
and you read the ferryman’s terminal entry . and it speaks of how heaven does not care about them , but gabriel does . he has a soft spot for these faithful sinners , and its just so different from the impression we’ve gotten from him in act 1 . and THEN there’s heresy , and well he’s pissed off . we still dont really see his soft side ourselves , in v1’s pov (unless you count the hologram in wrath el oh el) . but then you defeat him again , and surprisingly , he’s not petulant about it this time . he’s thoughtful , and his anger from before is nowhere to be found . he takes the loss in stride — the Complete opposite from the first fight .
and then there’s the act 2 cutscene , where he’s just kinda ?? cool as hell ??? and kills the council after saying some fire lines n whatever . and its just . Wtf . this gabriel is so different from the one we saw in act 2 . this gabriel is not petulant or whiny , in fact he self reflects and acknowledges his own mistakes , and takes it upon himself to redeem them in some way . he was so angry about losing , about having 24 hours left to live — and now he just says “i know” in the face of death , as if he just doesnt give a shit . like What
anyway . the ferryman’s book and terminal entry is like the very few bits we get to see of gabriel actually being the kind and radiant personality we read about in his first terminal entry . which i find veeeeery inch resting idkk ….. what cuties ……!!!
