Other: He began a vigorous training routine after successfully adjusting to testosterone implant treatment; by the age of 16, he was a rising young volleyball star. Forced to quit sports after receiving Summons, Krum decided to shorten his service by applying for Special Forces.
Author’s notes: The model I chose to represent Krum Suarez was a tricky find. I wanted first and foremost to honour the fact Krum is a transgender man; therefore, I searched for trans men who fit the bill. Suarez being a Spanish/Portuguese name, and Krum being a Bulgarian given name, it was hard for me to choose a person who looked right. Despite being German, Benjamin Melzer is perfect demonstration of how I imagine my character – and having appeared on the cover of Men’s Health, he looks like he’ll do well in the role of a Special Forces soldier!
