COMIC CAST PT 4 | anna and burton 🥹
They're tied to Martin and Julian, the characters from my last post :3
The Corinthian - Performed by Eyeless Smiles Elegant, tall, handsomely built and decidedly eloquent, The Corithitian is the Dream King's most passionately constructed Nightmare. A fully autonomous, black mirror of humanity whose function is to reveal the horrors of moral corruption. He is revered as the Dark Prince of all Nightmares and key to the Dreaming's Major Arcana. Cruel, sadistic, narcissistic and violently homicidal when unleashed upon dreamscapes. His presence bodes shattering displays of vicious abuse and leaves those touched by his hands waking to terrified cold sweat, jarring screams and lasting terror that lingers long after his nightmare has faded. Unleashed as a warning upon an uneasy conscience. His moniker is almost always marked by trauma, damage or removal and cannibalistic consumption of eyes.
Queen Rayne - Performed by Rayne of the Vanir
Vanir Goddess of Magic, Plants, Fertility and Love. Daughter of Freya and Odr with familial ties to God-King Odin All-Father. Born to the world more than two millennia past, Rayne of Vanahiem is revered for her compassion, benevolence and enduring presence in battle. Raised beyond mortal Queendom, she stands as a perpetual sentinel of protection and resilience. Graceful, stoic, and passionate; those ennobled by her favour find sequence in chaos and strength where faltering. Her appearance in dreamscapes is often noted by the blooming of flowers native to her lands, a marked ability to conceive safely and solve enduring complex problems.
Kyra performed by Dreamer Kyra Tenderhearted, youthful and endlessly mischievous. Kyra was one of the first dreamers to pass in her sleep during Dream's imprisonment at the hands of John Burgess. Her spirit, transported to the Soft Places, echoed on without clear memory. It was here that the Dream King encountered her upon the fringes during his weakened return to the castle. It is said, unaware of his personage, Kyra offered the enfeebled Dream Lord food and a bed after his collapse. His gratitude was so profound, he offered the young woman residence in the Dream Palace and later took her as his ward. Kyra's appearance in dreamscapes signifies adventure, comfort and child-like freedom.
Hob Gadling performed by Professor Gadling
Refusing Death's hand, insisting there is so much to live for, no matter the elation or misfortune life throws at him. Robert 'Hob' Gadling has endured over 600 years of immortality in any number of professions. He's tasted fortune and lordship right through to starvation, loss of loved ones and absolute destitute poverty. Once every century, he finds his way faithfully to the New Inn to meet with his nameless Stranger. Only in the modern 21st Century does Hob learn his companion is Death's own brother, Dream of the Endless. Circumstance and life's twisting intricacies bring the two men together on an unshakable path of friendship and dedication. Hob's appearance in dreamscapes heralds change, possible hardship and eventual resolution through perseverance and steady dedication. His gentle smiles and silken voice come with moral lessons and newfound hope for life ahead.
Dream of the Endless performed by King of Dreams and Nightmares
Behold, Morpheus, Dream of the Endless. Reigning Monarch of Sleep, Dreams and Nightmares. Born of Time and Night, the third eldest son to have come into being at the dawn of the universe's creation. Billions of years old, capable of bending the fabric of reality itself - The Dream King is cosmic, omnipotent and metamorphically unstoppable. An anthropomorphic personification of dreams, he resides in a spectacular castle within the very heart of the Dreaming. He is as passionate and playful as he is prideful and arrogant. His mind-altering powers enable him to replicate himself in any number of realities. In this one, he is whimsical, nurturing, and unapologetically boundary-breaking. The appearance of the Dream King in any dreamscape heralds high governance, guardianship and possible correction to issues past, future and present.
Barovian Newcomers
After years of not playing, we're finally back: Last night, my friends and I had our Session 0 for Curse of Strahd, which I will be DMing.
It's our first time using DnD, and it was the first time we ever approached this "professionally" or did a Session 0. Mind you, this group of players has a history of being almost comically dense, chaotic and misguided. To use a German phrase, they are a bunch of cucumbers (an absolute clown show). No murder-hobos or overly horny bards... just idiots.
I am really happy with this cast of characters; it will be so exciting to see how they will fare in Barovia.
Anyway, I was thinking I could introduce you to this group of characters, since I'm considering documenting our Barovian escapades and sharing them online. So, here goes.
The Dawn Twins: Elarion & Serenya are Aasimar twins, grown up in a lathandrian monastery and with the message that they are the Morninglord's gift to Toril. While the cleric Elarion, 3 minutes older than his sister, is more the bookish/ curious type, Serenya, a paladin, has a habit of smiting first and asking questions later. They're thick as thieves, and I am curious to see what the hopelessness and isolation of Barovia does to them.
Elena Morvain: A 10 year old human girl with a rabbit plushie and an invisible friend she calls "smiley" is more than a little creepy. Once you notice that the plushie turns its head and watches you from time to time and follows its mistress into fights, you start to realise that this little kid is not as helpless as you might think. She’s going to make many people very uncomfortable.
Gargamel Lorian: You might think that this Goliath Barbarian is stupid, and he is, but that assessment kinda does him a disservice. There is a lot of tragic gentle giant energy! He's a weaponless fighter who's used to clearing up barfights on the side while doing his main job. The main job is being the beloved mascot of the well-known Lorian brewery. He takes pride in this, but the owners treat him like property, and the more you talk to him about it, the you realise how literal that is.
Lilith Windfänger: an orphaned bard who has never been able to settle down anywhere, nor does she want to. She's a half-elf with fiery red hair, a glamorous collection of stage outfits and a voice that just perfectly suits her lyre. She's a haunted hedonist, and in Barovia, she'll have to deal with the ghosts that haunt her and the massive lack of vices and things to indulge in.
Kaelir Thornveil: a morally grey eco-assassin, hired by a grove of druids to "take care" of people who threaten nature or the balance of things. He's an arcane trickster rogue/ ranger, a wood-elf, and not a man of many words. When it comes to the path before him, I think he’ll either become an avenger of the wilds or be forced to face what “balance” means when everything’s already dying.
Character-cast: Aelyria Maeryxon
Before the Doom, raised in the eastern coast of Valyria. Sheltered, Naive, extremely girly.
Closest person I feel matches in appearance.
