Krypton Series Premiere (Brief Thoughts)
So Krypton’s premiere was pretty okay.
The big thing I knew was going to bother me about it, definitely did bother me. Which is the entire plotline about the man from the future (Adam Strange) telling Seg-El about Superman and that the future is somehow in jeopardy blah blah blah. If it were up to me this entire aspect of the show wouldn’t exist. I feel that it’s unnecessary.
A tv show about the planet Krypton, about it’s culture and society and way of life is an awesome idea. It’s an awesome enough idea that you don’t really need time travel, and Superman, and the fate of the future to make it interesting and exciting. It’s already interesting and exciting all by itself.
So yeah, that bothered me and will probably continue to bother me. However...
This first episode did focus alot on all the things I’m excited to see from a series like this! Kryptonian society! Class division! Advanced technology! Waring houses! Political alliances! Weird alien religions! Weird alien terrorist groups! Weird names! And hot humanoid aliens!! YASS! That’s what this show should be about and that’s why I’m here and that’s what I’ll be tuning in for next week and probably the week after that and the week after that. I just want to know more about Krypton. And I think as long as the show is giving me that without getting too terribly bogged down in Superman’s future drama it could continue to be pretty okay if not potentially really cool.
The effects look great to me, granted I’m not super picky about that sort of thing, and also sometimes premiere episodes can be more polished than others.
I don’t really know what to expected/hope for from Brainiac/Collector of Worlds. Once again I’m much more interested in the GoT type political drama and villainry then I am this overarching big bad planet eating/gotta save Superman thing.
Anyway, all this to say. Krypton wasn’t awful, go check it out for yourselves, it’s definitely worth a watch. And I’m hopeful about what it has in store for us :)
