Tony Stark and Reed Richards are both good men. Everybody is always so quick to cite bad writing for characters like Cyclops, but they don’t for Tony or Reed. Civil War is a joke of an event. It was so laughably biased that there was no compelling moral argument. Cap was obviously the glowing hero who did nothing wrong and Tony was the hellspawn who eats babies. Same goes for Reed. Contrary to popular belief, Reed is not an abusive husband. he loves his family more than anything. When you piss on him, you’re just calling out his social deficiencies and making them negative. Tony and Reed are far-thinking people. They’re smart enough to know that the heroic choice isn’t always the right one. Sometimes, sacrifices must be made. When it came to the incursions, the Illuminati were the only ones doing fuck all about it. They were willing to kill a planet to save their own. That’s not the heroic choice, but what choice is there? Let them both die? Everything they’ve done is for the betterment of mankind in their eyes. Both Reed and Tony have an incredible amount of depth to them, full of moral complexities and flaws. Everybody loves that in other characters, but it’s always Tony and Reed who take shit for it.Remember when people talked shit about T’Challa, Namor, Black Bolt, Doctor Strange, and Beast for taking part in the same things Reed and Tony have? No? Exactly.
