a lot of the Discourse abt ks is contingent on the fact that its supposedly fetishizing gay relationships but... most yaoi manga is so, so much worse about that. ks actually gives the characters personalities & development, and its barely pornographic tbh i dont?? get??? it????

also the argument saying it fetishizes abusive relationships is contingent on the idea that you, the reader, lack the critical thinking skills to realize that stockholm/lima syndrome are clearly in play here, and neither are treated like a good/normal thing lmao. again, something that most yaoi manga glosses over/is much, much worse at portraying.

the only reason the Discourse is so fuckin bad here is because the assumption is that the reader lacks said critical thinking abilities, which is... kind of insulting, honestly. no one discoursed this bad about hannibal having a canon m/m relationship involving stalking, murder, unethical medical practices, emotional manipulation, severe gaslighting, etc.
