"The other variant of (flawed) queer representation in pop culture media is the integration of queer plot points for humorous purposes. To refer to an example from musical theater: Herbert von Krolock, the only son of Count von Krolock in Steinman and Kunze's Tanz der Vampire (1997). [...] Without delving too deeply into the fascinating world of the vampire-in-pop-culture complex, it is clear at first glance that Herbert is not an “average” vampire. The vampire in pop culture media — such as, and especially in contrast to Herbert, his father Count von Krolock — is a magnetic pole for forbidden or suppressed sexual fantasies of untouched (and mostly underage) women. Herbert removes this possibility by presenting as harmless as a vampire and humorous as a character through his “queercoded” homosexuality. What's more, Herbert's feminine mannerisms are not portrayed as laughable, but as actively manipulative. [...] Herbert's advances culminate in the lyrical climax:

Herbert: You have a cute butt!

However, when Herbert tries to attack Alfred—after a fearful rejection by Alfred—a few slaps with an umbrella on Herbert's butt by the old and frail professor are enough to fend Herbert off. Professor ex machina. What a beautiful vampire he is."
