Killing Time at Light Speed
I like it. I splurged, it’s 10 bucks on Steam and it’s super short, so some might not feel like it’s worth it, aaaand I’m a little miffed that the protag is a dude, but they never state who ‘Jay’ is so I can pretend. :P
But it’s kind of... well, the stories play out really neat, but it’s really hurting my head this whole idea of ‘spend a half an hour on a ship traveling to a new planet and for every minute you’re on the ship a year is passing back on Earth.
While you’re on the ship, you can browse their version of Facebook and what all the politics and your friends on the feed, interacting with them, albeit in a very limited fashion. And then once you refresh the page... boom, roughly a year has gone by.
I was a bit sad by the end. And my brain is still trying to wrap around the concept. It’s a really good one. One that makes you think, especially when you try to apply to any space drama that deals with multiple star systems and shit.
I highly recommend it. Oh and there’s cute synths and lesbians. Yes. Granted, you just watch your friends hook up and not, but still, kind of a neat game.
