Mass Effect Andromeda Appreciation Week
When: July 20 to 26 (2026)
Tag: #meaweek2026
What the week is about: It's a special week to celebrate Mass Effect Andromeda!!!! A game that gives us a lot of joy! So let's talk about our Ryder, the Tempest crew, the worldbuilding, the new species like the angara and the kett... Let's have fun together!
How is it different from any other week? Appreciation weeks can get people excited about a specific fandom and be more active. It can bring more fandom content. The fact that there's one tag that fandom can check every day of that week is very nice for everyone who wants to share their thoughts and fanworks. It's also a good week to find friends in fandom! So if you're new, enjoy!!!
What can be posted in the tag: Fan fics, fanart, gifs, picspams, meta, memes, fanvids, etc.
What can't be posted in the tag: MEA criticism. This is not the week for it. Also avoid bashing ships and characters, respect other people, don't be a bigot, etc. Apply the usual fandom rules that mean we can all share a nice space together. Be mindful that other people think differently than you and that's okay.
Prompts
They can help to inspire and motivate you. You don't have to follow them but here they are below.

Unanswered Questions) Day 7- "Thank you Mass Effect Andromeda for"
Enjoy!!!!
One of the Andromeda complaints I never understood was the "We should have played Alec" argument because like a) I understand a lot of people view Shepard as a pre-established character, but Shepard very much is still a customizable character and playing as a truly pre-established character in Mass Effect would fucking suck. And b) we already have Mass Effect games where you play an already established war hero and badass N7 it's called the Original Trilogy.
I like that Ryder is the opposite of Shepard. I like that, in contrast to Shepard's hyper-competence and the respect they've already earned, Ryder is out of their depth and has to prove themselves to everyone around them. I like that Ryder is not Shepard 2.0. I wouldn't have hated playing Shepard 2.0, but it would have felt like retreading old ground. The team deliberately made Ryder distinct and different from Shepard and I think some people never let go of the fact that Shepard's story was done, and this inability to let go of that is part of why Andromeda was so poorly received (in addition to things like EA's bungling of the release)
