Me: Okay, the last two issues were literally about Charmy Bee’s best friend dying of an LSD overdose and the Chaotix getting high off of LSD-infused chili dogs. Surely that means nothing in these comics will shock me from this point on, right?
Penders: (opens this issue with a surgery scene where Charmy’s blood is spurting everywhere)
Top: KTE 13, 15 Bottom: Knuckles Archives vol. 3
KTE 15 Left: Original Right: Censored Re-release
They took Charmy home and now they’re having a funeral for his friend who died of an LSD overdose. I know I’m harping on that a lot but I have to keep saying it to remind both myself and the world that that’s a real thing that happened in an official Sonic the Hedgehog comic book
And so Charmy returns home to the Goldenhive Colony and decides to be a prince again. Why does he think he’s ready to go back to being royalty now? How has his grief changed him, beyond this vague statement about “growing up”? What’s his relationship with his family like? Who knows!!
And we'll probably never know, because this is literally Penders writing Charmy--one of the Chaotix, one of the few characters in the Knuckles comics who actually comes from the games--out of the series
Yeah, Charmy doesn’t go back with the Chaotix! Between this comic released in 1998 and issue #138 of the main series in 2004, he appears in like... one story. And only briefly. Charmy was basically written out of the comics for six years while the rest of the Chaotix stuck around
please... do not frighten poor Bimmy
