One of our favorite fall ride destinations in Southern California is the Mojave National Preserve. The natural beauty of this piece of desert paradise is striking but you do have to be prepared for big heapings of sand. Sand and liter-plus class adventure bikes don’t always mix well but in the case of the KTM 1290 Super Adventure R, it handled everything we encountered in stride. Some of the more recent updates have made a noticeable difference, namely the lower CG fuel tank, optimized suspension and shortened frame with longer swing arm that increase stability and control while navigating rough terrain.
