In addition to Valentine's Day, Let's not forget the birthday of the Grand Canyon State itself.
Come to this land of sunshine,
To this land where life is young.
Where the wide, wide world is waiting,
The songs that will now be sung.
Where the golden sun is flaming
Into warm, white shining day.
And the sons of men are blazing
Their priceless right of way.
(Chorus)
Sing the song that's in your hearts,
Sing of the great Southwest.
Thank God, for Arizona,
In splendid sunshine dressed.
For thy beauty and thy grandeur,
For thy regal robes so sheen,
We hail thee Arizona
Our Goddess and our queen.
Arizona : This is the best Valentine's Day gift ever!
Oregon : Not as the same as my birthday. We share the same birthday to you know on Valentine's Day.
Julia Chang & Kuchinashi : We know!
Analysis
Magic Necklace’s Powers: The Necklace allows its wearer to control Grimm, causing their eyes to glow blue instead of red, indicating submission to the user’s will. It works over long distances and enables strategic coordination of Grimm, as seen with Lemon and Asher controlling various Grimm (Sabyrs, Beringels, Lancers, Manticores) to attack or defend. The artifact is a magical item from an ancient civilization, not tied to a Semblance, suggesting it operates on magical rather than Aura-based principles.
Salem’s Nature: Salem is a unique entity in RWBY, cursed with immortality by the gods and infused with Grimm essence, making her predominantly Grimm-like, especially as her injuries reveal her corrupted form. She has direct control over Grimm, as seen in her ability to command and create them, and her immortality ensures she cannot be permanently killed or destroyed. Her magical abilities are vast, predating modern Semblances and drawing from the same divine magic that created the Grimm.
Application to Salem:
Grimm Control: The Necklace’s ability to control Grimm could theoretically affect Salem, given her significant Grimm essence. If her Grimm nature is dominant (as suggested by her injuries showing Grimm-like traits), the Necklace might attempt to override her autonomy, forcing her to follow the wearer’s commands. The blue glow in Grimm eyes indicates a shift in control, which could apply to Salem if her Grimm physiology is susceptible.
Salem’s Resistance: However, Salem’s unique status complicates this. As the de facto “queen” of the Grimm, she exerts innate control over them, likely through a magical connection tied to her creation by the God of Darkness. The Necklace, while powerful, is an artifact from a bygone era, and its magic may not supersede Salem’s divine-level authority. Her willpower and magical prowess could resist or nullify the Necklace’s influence, especially since she’s not a typical Grimm but a hybrid with human intellect and divine curses.
Practical Challenges: Using the Necklace requires the wearer to be in possession of it and actively use its power. Salem’s combat abilities, magical strength, and command of Grimm hordes make approaching her with the Necklace risky. Historical users (e.g., Lemon, Abigail) faced betrayal or death, indicating the Necklace doesn’t guarantee victory against strong opponents. Asher’s success was situational, aided by external reinforcements, not solely the Necklace.
Immortality Factor: Even if the Necklace temporarily controlled Salem, her immortality prevents permanent defeat. Controlling her actions might delay her plans, but she cannot be killed or permanently subdued. If the Necklace’s control wanes (e.g., if removed or countered), Salem would regain autonomy. Additionally, her ability to manipulate Grimm suggests she might wrest control back or destroy the Necklace, as its limits against a being of her caliber are untested.
Conclusion
The Magic Necklace could theoretically affect Salem by attempting to control her Grimm essence, potentially forcing her to obey the wearer’s commands temporarily. However, her divine immortality, magical power, and intrinsic control over Grimm make it unlikely to stop her permanently. At best, it might disrupt her actions briefly, but her ability to resist, counter, or outlast the Necklace’s influence—combined with the practical difficulty of using it against her—means it’s not a definitive solution. It could be a tactical tool to hinder her in a specific scenario, but stopping Salem entirely would require more than the Necklace alone.

Mmm some more thoughts to what I call “Two Guys Got Eeby Deeby’d” AU but it’s probably better if it’s called Warden and Kahuna AU:
Externally, Nanu does seem to have a more stable grasp on his memories than Ingo does, able to connect things better and while it’s mostly all just fractures and fragments, he seems to almost... not care at all.
He actually does care and it bothers him that he’s missing so much of his memory (that’s a good fuckin 50-something years) but plays it off a lot better
Unlike Ingo, Nanu can tone his speech to match the others but will revert to using “odd” (modern) phrases around Ingo and Akari/Rei
He also refrains from using native Alolan speech, even though calling some people some really insulting words is right on the tip of his tongue (This is you, Kamado)
Though he remembers the language and the other languages he would have had to speak (ie: Pokemon’s versions of English, French and Japanese, with Aolan being Hawaiian)
Fun fact that has nothing to do with this, but Ula’Ula is based around the island of Hawai’i, which I think is intresting
Like Ingo, he knows for a fact he’s got family or something back home
Something something “There’s a brat, younger than you, of course, but she used to hang onto me a lot”
He vaugely remembers the Faller Incident, and avoids Alphas for that reason (not because they’re dangerous, though. Simply because they’re big.)
He has the biggest adversion to Glalie, Tangworth, and Mamoswine (Big and Round, that’s all he can really say on the matter of why they unnerve him so much)
Similarly to Ingo, he also knows that he’s missing and once had a partner pokemon. He has more memory of her than Ingo does of Chandalure though because of the fact that Nanu probably has been in contact with Honchkrows and Honchkrow is one of his teammembers
He substitutes the fact that he’s missing a “Feline with a temper and a coat as silver as the moon” with a Luxaray, but states it doesn’t feel right and that he knows there was more of a dark feeling to his partner
Gravitates towards the dark typing of obvious reasons to us but not to him
Half his team is dark: a female Honchkrow (to which he states is familiar, but wrong, so he suspects he had one that was male wherever he was from), a Drapion, and an Overqwil. The rest of his team is Luxuray, Arcanine, and Gallade
He does rather like Sneasel and Sneasler but doesn’t keep one on his team. Lady Sneasler like him similarly with Ingo tho lmao. Those are her scrungly human idiots
He doesn’t really battle the Player though, unless called to the Dojo, but he walks around with Luxuray behind him which freaks people out
Nanu likely has an accent in comparison to the other characters. I belive that he’s native to Ula’Ula, and left the island because of InterPol, so he did mask his accent during that time but upon returning, he had no reason to, so when he was transported, he forgot the whole masking his accent buisness
It is masked when speaking other languages, though, and he does eventually figure that he should hide or at least temper the accent down if he can around the others
The language barrier would have been a wild sort of issue for Nanu, because the first few weeks he could clearly understand Ingo and vaugely understand the others, but it took some adjusting before he remembered “oh shit i speak Poke-japanese” but then realizing that this is a bit off and having to adjust
Basically i think that the language barrier would be more interesting, because Ingo and Nanu are both from Poke-America. Because of their positions as prominant figures (Ingo) or past jobs (Nanu) they would know other languages, but I don’t think Ingo would be fully fluent, and even if he was there’s the time gap in language and also the memory issue.
So for a bit Nanu acts as a go-between for translation
For obvious reasons, Nanu detests like half of Hisui because of the weather difference— If we base Alola’s weather off of Hawai’i, then it’s more temprate and definitely warmer than Sinnoh/Hisui
He’s wearing sandals for christsake
He’s much older than Ingo, despite Ingo’s later appearence and knows somewhere in his fractured memories that he’s ill equiped for the sheer cold of the highlands, and even more so of the ablaster islands
He can’t climb clifts or move as fast as Ingo or the others can, though he's still very fit for a man his age, considering how he probably can, and maybe will depending on how I spin it, stand up to Kamado without breaking a sweat
Lord knows that he had to deal with Hala at times lmao and Hala has at least fifty pounds on Kamado
But despite being ill equiped and older, he does refuse to change into any of the uniforms or really other clothing, aside from maybe getting duplicates of what he was wearing. He might switch to boots instead of sandals though lmao
He refuses to part with the armband and stone that hangs around his neck, too. He has no idea what it is, or why its important, but he refuses to go without it
like how Ingo seems to be more comfortable in the caves and tunnels of the Highlands, Nanu seems to be more at ease down at the coastlands.
I don’t think that Nanu would join either of the Clans willingly, maybe he’s partial and considerd to be an honorary member of the Pearl Clan because he and Ingo stuck together for so long, but Nanu does eventually stake off on his own.
He has a settlement by the sea, maybe. Where he’s collected a ton of Shinx, but he does like walking along the coasts and also through the lower lands of Hisui.
Granted he will go up to the mountains to hang out with Ingo at times, but usually just flies Honchkrow up there
No one knows how or why Honchkrow just agrees to pick Nanu up and fly him, but it happened. It’s kinda rediculus looking
While part of his brain is very confused on how aggressive Pokemon are and how fearful people are of pokemon, Nanu doesn’t really seem to have a hard time adjusting to the new area
In fact, it seems as if he has muscle memory of wrangling pokemon as well
This is inpart of his InterPol Training, a personal Headcanon of mine is that every InterPol Agent is trained in CQC against both people and pokemon in the event that things go very south— meaning that Nanu subconciously knows when to dodge, duck, and counter both man and pokemon.
He’s probably flipped Meli over his shoulder multiple times
Nanu from Pokemon Sun & Moon is an Avatar of the Dark
hiii!! byakuya fluff headcanons???
(i couldn't decide whether to ask for byakuya, kisuke, or ichigo cause i love em all lmao)
(Don't worry I understand you i love them all too but the 1st place will always be Byakuya in my opinion ofc :D)
Byakuya kuchiki fluff headcanon
When you are sick:
As we all know byakuya is a really busy man and he really cares about his reputation but when renji mentioned that you didn't look very well byakuya litterly just left his work to go search you (renji saw you as he had to bring some paperwork to byakuya)
When he finally found you sitting under a cherry tree he got closer to you but you kinda were asleep you knew somone was there but you couldn't really open your eyes, byakuya put his hand to your forehead checking if you have fever and yes you did
He took you home straight away and carried you like a princess only then you realized it was byakuya when you guys got home he called all the maids he had to take care of you and the chef had to make a soup for you after that he would leave again cause remember he is a busy man
Even though he left to work he would always think about you he is also very scared since his first wife Hisanna died even if it's only flu he would be scared to lose somone special once again
Byakuya would do his work even faster then normally even renji was surprised he could do work so much faster after the work he would come as fast as possible home to check on you
When he is home he would probably stay in your room waiting for you to wake up even if it's hours and when you finally wake up: "byakuya? Since when are you here?" "Just rest i just got here do you feel better?"
After a week of this drama you were finally healthy and decided to go on a walk since you weren't allowed to go outside (only to go to the toilet) byakuya who just got home saw you walking out of your room going for a walk "feeling better huh?" He would say standing behind you "o-oh byakuya your home early.. don't worry I am fine it was just a flu"
Pff this man couldn't care less if you say "just a flu" he would still look after you even if you are healthy again he would let you out again and the maids are less but still he would ask renji to spy on you sometimes not always but sometimes (don't take it bad he just to scared that something could happen he knows that your strong mentally and physically but still he would do it just to check)
In the end after 2 weeks of this and many MANY MANY talking he finally stopped beginning so overprotective and let you do what you want to do
You both love each other very much and even he doesn't show much emotions you still know it and appreciate everything he says or does and so does he :) <3
I hope you like this one :D if you want something else just ask and i will do it :3
Love you guys :>
