Don't let anyone tell you that kudos are not important and don't make ao3 authors happy. When I write for my tiny, niche rarepairs, even two people leaving kudos is so validating. That's *two whole people* who liked my Harry/Nicodemus silliness enough to (probably) read it till the end and press the little button.
And then, once in a blue moon I will write a random fic for something more popular, and this happens:

I know this is a bit braggy, and I’m not a big bragger, normally, but this has never happened before and I’m in a ‘no one likes my fic’ kinda mood. So getting this email from AO3 with 4 kudos in it...it really made me feel good.
nothing wrong with bragging about your writing, or being proud of yourself, mind you. I’m just not that person, normally (my self esteem is too shit for it).
