The paladin had a hard time sleeping for the first hour, laying in his tent, eyes shifting from wall to wall, though that wasn’t what he was truly seeing. He was having a recall--imagining all the times he had been involved in something like this, in extra-dimensional games, in feuds where the mind was made susceptible to strange unearthly magics. More importantly, he tried and failed, to find the meaning in all of this. More than anything in the moment though, he wished every time he closed his eyes, strange cryptic and unsettling images didn’t bother him. The Phi symbol becoming that strange sightless eye in particular.

Questions like these rattled through his mind constantly, each given little answer and little comfort. He hated that, Ulysses was a man who was used to being able to find or force answers out of where they were hiding, so far it seemed he couldn’t do that, though in particular their was one question that rattled through his mind more than all the others.

What can this new weapon do?

He had been told that it would come into play later, but he didn’t even know how to access such a thing at first. He stared down at his bare chest, at the point where the strange beacon-looking object had entered his body, he could remember that sensation and image of what it was perfectly, but those images offered little in the way of answers.

Ulysses sighed, he still had some unfinished business to take care of anyway. He sat up, listening for a few minutes for outside noises, when he was satisfied everyone else had left or either gone to sleep, he mutely stood, moving to pat his tent-mate and friend Kuero on the shoulder.

“Lets go finish what I started aye?”

Taking the Fist fighter with him, they would sneak through the camp soundlessly, being certain to walk away from the lake and beacon, they did so wordlessly. When they found a clearing with no trees obstructing their view of the sky, each of them would sit in the snow, meditating and gathering their energy, Kuero knew what was to come next.
