I decided to try listening to an episode of Kulturhuset while on the bus today. I remember the last time I tried to listen to this particular episode I got 10 minutes in before giving up, having failed to understand pretty much anything. I think this was like a year ago? Anyway, I wouldn’t go so far as to say I understood everything, but I understood the gist of it! When I focused I could understand whole sentences, or enough of the sentence to fill in the gaps, and I could even understand parts of what was being said when people were speaking in dialect :O At natural speed! I’ve never done that before!
Of course, if I lost focus and tried to come back into it I found it really difficult to tune back in and I ended up having to put it back five minutes at one point to understand what was going on. And there were definitely a lot of points where I didn’t understand enough to get the full picture... more I understood they were offering an opinion on something, but I wasn’t always sure what opinion that was.
So yeah, it’s fair to say my listening has improved in a year. Turns out I have been making progress. I’m still a far cry from advanced, but I am slowly edging my way through intermediate.
I will be attending Kulturhuset’s Art and Design market (in Oslo, Norway) this Sunday, together with Blank Space and @mfillustration! Come and say hi! 👋🌸 I will bring “The Botanist” print to the market, but you can also pre-order the print in my web shop now (link in bio!), if you are interested! :-) #prints #artanddesignmarket #kulturhuset #blankspace #illustration #nataliefoss #preorder #comesayhi #may13 (at Kulturhuset)
