prompt: Qian Kun is the medical department idol, any person has had a crush on him at least once. With the recent project of the department to pair up medical interns for mental health reason, everyone wanted medicine department superstar as their partner. However, the doctor in charge didn’t want leeching to happen so Kun was partnered with the other star of the department.
The med student council imposed a new program to lift the moral of the students going through the stress of doing hospital duties. They were imposing a buddy system, someone who matches your schedule and ward assignments. Kun wasn't really a big fan of the thought. All he wanted was to finally graduate out of med school and go into practicum, the last thing he needed was someone to slow him down. This was odd coming from Kun, he was often very friendly with people, but his academics were far more important than anything else.
"Qian Kun" the professor called out his name and he was asked to stand beside him. He stood there quietly hoping it would be someone who wouldn't leech off of him and rely on him to do all the things needed and write all the notes the doctors and professors tell them.
"Son Dahee" the professor calls out this name and Kun breathes out the fear he's been hiding. Dahee was a great partner, she works hard and makes sure everything was in place. Kun and her often butt heads when fighting for the top scores in class. In fact, there's a saying going around that if it isn't Kun who gets the highest scores then its Dahee. Although the two of them isn't significantly close, but they've definitely shared a few conversations here and there and have even gone out to drink with one another during pre-med school days, but that was all. Kun and Dahee are just acquaintances, no harsh feelings or attachments.
"Looks like we'll be partners" was how Kun greets Dahee. Some other female classmates were sending death glares at Dahee, they all wanted Kun as their partner and they were all burning with jealousy towards her.
"Well, I'll be in your care for the next 26 hours or so" Dahee gives Kun a small smile. She knew this would be a dragging 26 hours, everytime they would walk across female classmates they would only sigh with jealousy.
"Guess we'll be stuck together for now" Kun flashes that smile, that same smile that seems to be able to heal all of the patient's wounds in an instant. Good looking doctors have it different.
"Kun and Dahee, you'll be in the orthopedics ward with doctor Jung" the professors sends the two of the best trainees.
The orthopedics ward is on the other side of the hospital, the walk there was quiet. Although, Kun and Dahee are acquainted with one another, they were never the type to actually talk to each other. This was probably the first time that they were together, alone, outside of group works. Both Dahee and Kun still consider this some academic work and it just so happens that the two of them have been partnered up with one another.
"Kun!" someone calls his name and he turns around to see one of the frat members, Jeno, a sports science major. He was probably using some facilities inside the hospital for homework, he does that a lot.
"Hi!" Jeno warmly greets the younger boy, even giving him a light hug.
"Where you off to?" Jeno asked the elder giving a quick look at the pretty girl he was walking with. Jeno then leans in closer and whispers, "are you trying to ask her out on a date?" he moved away and gives Kun a mischevious smile.
"No" Kun's eye brows knits together and gives the younger's butt a little smack. "We have to go, we're assigned to a ward on the other side of the hospital" that's how he gives the younger boy a little push away because he can't seem to hide his teasing expression.
Once Jeno was no longer in sight, Dahee asked, "who was that?"
"He's Jeno, one of my frat members"
Dahee nods her head. "Are people in your fraternity all like... that?"
"What do you mean?" Kun couldn't really get the gist of what she wanted to ask.
"Like... you know... good looking?" she turned to look at Kun in the eye with a little tilt on the head.
Kun smiles at her, did she not realize what she just said? "Are you saying... I'm good looking?" a little smirk growing on his lips as the two of them were walking.
"Never mind" she rolls her eyes pretending to be annoyed, but she was only lost for words, that smirk really got her heart pounding.
"But if you want an answer..." Kun pauses to hit her on the shoulder. "it is taken into consideration" Kun leans down to meet her in the eye to give her a small wink.
"We should hurry now" Dahee puts her clipboard between the two of their faces. Hiding the blush that was beginning to show on her face.
The orthopedics ward was often crowded, faced with impatient patients and numerous family members visiting each other. The two was now faced with the endless work that the doctor incharge kept on instructing them to do.
Kun later enters the doctor's pantry ang he sits down on one of the chairs as he tries to catch his breath. He checks his phone and sees that it was past midnight, probably one of the reasons why he was able to finally sit down. "Hey, partner" someone opens the door and greets him this way.
Kun looks up and he sees Dahee standing by the door. "Oh, it's just you" he sighs.
"Did you finish all the things that we needed to do?" Dahee sits in front of Kun and the boy could only nod his head with a little smile.
"Who do you think you're talking to?" Kun asked the girl with a little smirk, something Dahee was very obviously weak for.
Then the two of them fell quiet, both too tired to talk. Dahee checks her phone and it was no surprise that it was quite late into the evening-- almost morning. She glances at Kun and she took notice of his head dropping.
"You know, you can take a rest in the room" Dahee refers to the room that interns like them sleep in.
"I thought that maybe you should go sleep" Kun yawns into telling her. "Did you check the room? There was only one bed left"
"I don't feel as tired as you, plus if I was I could just take a nap here" Dahee assures Kun, but was betrayed by her biological need, she yawned.
"Really?" Kun raised an eye brow as he takes notice of his partner's bags under her eyes.
"Fine. I'll check the room and if I feel tired I would rest" Dahee gives in and she takes her leave from the pantry.
Dahee quietly opens the door to the intern's room and she takes notice of all the bed being filled, at the far end corner of the room she notices that there was only one bed that was unoccupied. She tries her best not to give in, but her body just wanted to lie down, she was too tired. She softly tiptoes towards the bed and finally gives in to a dreamless sleep.
Later into her light rest, she feels the bed dip, but she didn't bother checking who it was, or maybe she did a bit. She barely opens one of her eyes and she sees a black familiar figure lie down beside her. Due to the familiarity, Dahee only closed her eyes and sleep. Then her body began to feel more warmth, her body suddenly relaxed into this warmth.
"Kun! Dahee!" some voices try to call them awake.
Dahee was the first one to wake up and she was greeted with one of the most beautiful faces she has ever woken up to. Kun was sound asleep in front of her eyes and their faces barely inches apart. Dahee then takes notice of Kun's arms on his waist and his other arm under his head acting as a pillow. His soft snors only made him more attractive than ever.
"Dahee!" this voice was of the doctor incharge. Dahee shoots herself up, waking Kun up in the process. "Kun!" the doctor now calls the attention fo the half awake boy that slept beside Dahee.
"Why are the two of sleeping together on the same bed?" the doctor's tone wasn't exactly disappointment, but rather quite shocked.
"I actually have no idea" Dahee rubs the back of her head as she watches as Kun sit up and fix his hair.
"I slipped in last night" Kun admits.
"And why did you do that?" the doctor incharge asked Kun, who was still too groggy to even respond clearly.
"I was too tired and I'm only comfortable with Dahee" Kun lies. It wasn't that he was uncomfortable with everyone else, when he checked last night, Dahee had the most space that was easy for him to slip in.
"Fine. Fine." the doctor gives in and rubs the back of his neck. The doctor turns around and leaves the room, it was only now did both Kun and Dahee take notice of the other interns that have been watching the whole scene.
Kun gives a weird look towards Dahee and Dahee could only return with that same look. Dahee immediately stands up from the bed and fixes her clothes. "I'll wait for you outside" Dahee tells Kun as she takes her coat that she hung by one of the chairs in the room last nigth.
Kun watched as she exits the room. The warmth that was so close to his body last night and the soft scent she was giving out last nigth still lingers in his mind. Kun looks down to his hand and he squeezes his fist together, as if he was trying to grasp something that no longer was in his hand.
"Are you and Dahee dating?" one of the interns suddenly approaches Kun. Kun only looks up and gives the guy a small smile.
"Nah" he stands up and refreshens before grabbing his coat, he left it just beside Dahee's coat. Kun walks out of the room and someone immediately grabs his wrist and drags him towards one of the back rooms.
"Why did you do that?" Dahee immediately asked Kun as soon she closed the door, even pushing him up against the wall because of how cramped this room was.
"I was too tired to notice, okay" Kun could only roll his eyes as he avoids eye contact with Dahee. "Unless, you actually liked" Kun smirked, but he only pretends to look her in the eye.
"Stop that, Kun!" Dahee hits Kun's chest. She wasn't down to play this game of his. "I don't think you understand what situation we're in right now, Kun. Rumors would spread fast around here, now what will you do, now?"
"It's just rumors, nothing bad could happen?" Kun dismisses her as he takes her hand off the 'kabedon' position she put him into.
"Oh my gawd, Kun!" Dahee runs her hand through her hair. To Kun's eyes, the moment she ran her hand through her hair, she looked absolutely beautiful, almost goddess like. If it weren't for the white coat and the smell of the hospital behind them, maybe she would have been a goddess.
"Don't you understand? We're in the hospital, do you have any idea how fast rumors spread here?" Dahee throws her hand towards to the air. "Not to mention your crazy fans"
"I don't have fans" Kun corrects her.
"Really?" Dahee raised an eye brow at him.
"Just trust me already" Kun now takes a few steps forward and then puts the girl into a kabedon position. "Nothing would happen, we should just let the rumors go?"
"Well, I don't feel comfortable with rumors spreading about me dating you" Dahee keeps her position firm. "Nope. Nadda. Not for me."
"That hurt a little, you know" Kun pretends to squeeze his chest, around the area that holds the heart.
"Move it up a bit" Dahee moves his hand up to the proper place where the heart is found. It was hard using pick ups on doctors who knew the anatomic make up of the human body.
"Well..." Kun puts his hand down and looks Dahee in the eye. "...let's stop the rumors" Kun suggested.
"How?" she looked at Kun, even tilting her head in the process, a habit she does when she can't seem to understand something. A habit Kun has noticed time and time again, especially in class.
"Let's date for real" Kun suggests as Dahee stood there in absolute shock.
"S-Stop joking" she moves her head away from his, becaus she knew, by the way he looked at her that he wasn't joking.
"I'm serious Dahee, I think I like you" Kun was bold and the shy and timid Dahee can't help but feel a bit out of her comfort zone, but at the same time she was happy. Her eyes remains shaky when she looked Kun in the eye, only then she understood that he was genuine about asking her out. Kun's gentle looks could fool anyone, he was a flirtm but he was very lowkey about being flirty. He rarely flirted with other girls unless he genuinely likes them and Dahee has seen this first hand with Kun's first girlfriend. However, she never imagined that this would happen to her, of all the people, why did it have to be her.
"Dahee, I like you, please go out with me" Kun repeats. There it was once again, Kun's genuiness and softness in his eyes. Anyone would easily fall in love with someone like him and she couldn't seem to believe that there he was asking him out. "Come on, Dahee, if you don't like it just tell me, please?"
"Will you..." Dahee's voice was soft. "...wait for my answer?"
