Sorry for the artspam lately 

I stole another character, this time it’s @kurairo ‘s old man Romeos. Really happy with the face shading on this one. Now I have to take a break from drawing but spoon I will steal more children for more practice.

Three out of five giveaway sketches done! This one is for @kurairo! This guy was a treat to work with and it was pretty fun hearing his story along the way! ;A; Thanks for letting me draw him and sharing his character! (Also I still hope the pointy ears work well enough)

YO 19 and 13 for the “hi, I’m not from the US” ask set!

Thanks a loT for the ask! Considering I’m from a multi-cultural family (Polish/Dutch) It can get weird sometimes. 

13. does your country (or family) have any specific superstitions or traditions that might seem strange to outsiders?

In Poland on christmas eve you need to sample every dish (12 dishes) otherwise you experience that many cases of bad luck in the upcoming year. Wich Is not hard to do, because all the dishes are very tasty.

Another Polish superstition Is if a bird shits on you, It would be considered good luck In the future.

Dutch superstition Is not very different from other countries. Things like four leaved clovers and horseshoes that bring good luck. Crossing black cats and standing underneath a ladder giving you bad luck.

19. do you like your country’s flag and/or emblem? what about the national anthem?   

The Polish flag Is white/red (from top to bottom) and It’s coat of arms is a white eagle with a crown (wich Is on the second flag from Poland In the middle of the white border). I like It because of the history behind It. The origin of the flag goes back around the polish/lithuanian commonwealth years!

The Dutch flag red/white/blue (from top to bottom). Is a nice flag to look at It and Is easily recognised from afar.

Im not acquainted with the Polish national anthem and the Dutch has been a thorn In my side since middle school and because of that I don’t like It.

02. What is one of your character’s biggest insecurities? Are they able to hide it easily or can others easily exploit this weakness?

Not sure if emotional rollercoaster can be considered an insecurity, but it is a weakness and he sure hates it. And hates how easy it is for others to provoke him, especially if they know which buttons to push. He’s a moody man. Can go from happiness, through sadness to rage during a single audience.

Of course there are officials who try to make him lose his common sense to emotions. They do not stay officials for long though.

Small animals also easily exploit this weakness. And his kids. Basically it’s not uncommon to see, or hear the king go all “aawwww” at the sight of something adorable or lovable. Five minutes later he’ll berate the guard for leting the damn thing into the laboratory, but fortunately it’s usually not his rage point.

09. Do they have a favorite season? What about a favorite holiday?

Fav season would be Etelen (first of three seasons, Etelen -beginning of life-, Avelen -prime of life- & Develen -end of life-). It’s also when the annual race is held in the capital. She’s a huge fan of beam racing.

Basically what happens is the whole city is closed off when the race begins, energy nodes are placed on the highest parts of the buildings, runners start and finish at the castle. They have to get through the whole track by bouncing off the nodes and running on walls/roofs. They are not allowed to touch the ground, fly or use magic. Every time a runner bounces off a node they leave a trace of energy behind, a beam of light, hence beam racing.

She participated herself quite a few times. Iorenn (her son) caught the bug too. He even won a few races.

Also they don’t really have holidays like our Christmas or sth, so no favs here I guess.

22. What kind of tattoos, piercings, birthmarks, freckles, and other such unique physical features do they have?

He has a tattoo on his left side, going from his arm, all the way down to his knee. It’s an intricate design, an abstract tree if you will, a bit arabesque in style. It covers a long scar he got as a younging. Going nywrys hunting with a few friends instead of a professional hunter, or one of your much more experienced parents, is a very bad idea.

What’s a nywrys? It’s basically a boar. A gigantic boar. Think boar the size of an elephant. A nocturnal pile of hormones and rage. Bioluminescent as long as it’s calm. Famous last words “why did it get so dark?”.
