kurekonan fic idea where a short time after asuma’s death the akatsuki decides to take a prisoner from konoha and they decide on kurenai and konan is the one to do the kidnapping so she shows up with these huge paper wings and pretty amber eyes and kurenai goes hooooly shiiittttt

she leaves a coded message to her team saying DO NOT COME RESCUE ME DO NOT PAY ANY RANSOM that sort of thing but obviously they don’t listen and they come up with some crazy plan and when they finally find kurenai she’s just chilling in a huge pile of paper flowers because it’s been three months and she’s managed to charm her way gently into the heart of akatsuki’s paper angel (and vice versa)

kiba’s jaw drops, shino nods and says he should have anticipated this, and hinata is just relieved to see that kurenai is okay and that she seems to actually be happier for this whole experience

"Your heart is safe with me" Kurenai/Konan?

wow thank you for asking for my rare rare rare rarepair,,, i wrote a couple words too so uh 

(the AU i had in mind is one in which kurenai and konan live together in kurenai’s house in konoha. also kisame and itachi live in konona and sasuke is there and everyone is happy but that doesn’t factor into this really tiny ficlet so) 

At first it seems like Konan is simply growing more distant, retreating from society in a village she doesn’t know. 

Kurenai understands that, doesn’t question it. Everyone needs a break sometimes. 

But it goes on, and Kurenai worries. She catches Konan looking through the blinds at the cityscape outside their window, and approaches her, laying her hand over Konan’s and meeting her eyes when she turns. 

Konan sees the concern written all over Kurenai’s face in an instant, and she averts her gaze to the floor. 

Her knuckles tighten on the windowsill under Kurenai’s palm, and Kurenai realizes something. 

She’s scared— of course she is. She’s spent a lifetime being undervalued, being pushed aside, and the threat of heartbreak hovers over her like a cloud. 

“Your heart is safe with me,” says Kurenai softly, squeezing her hand. They’re far from perfect, but Kurenai can say with certainty that she would never hurt Konan. She’s safe. 

Konan looks up, amber eyes tentatively hopeful. 

“Promise,” says Kurenai. She cracks a smile, the light from the windows crossing her face. 

Konan responds with a smile of her own, ducking her head and laughing silently like she often does, and Kurenai’s heart warms at the sight. 

“You read me so easily,” she says, dry humor in her voice and a sparkle in her eyes. “I’m sorry. Thank you.” 

“Don’t be sorry. Anything for you,” says Kurenai, grinning. 

“Oh, stop,” says Konan, blushing. 

Kurenai does not. Konan doesn’t mind— there is no one she’d rather trust with something as precious as her heart.
