Ended up falling down a rabbit hole of reading all about the poem Tomino's Hell after watching a playthrough of the Chilla's Arts game: 'The Radio Station | 深夜放送'.

It got on to mistranslations and misunderstandings of the poem's context, in particular the way that 'spits up his soul' has been changed to 'spits up the jewel(s)' in the past when translated to English, due to the written word for 'Jewel' also being understandable as containing the word for 'Soul' or 'Spirit', because both denote something that is precious.

And with that in mind, I'd just like to say:

If anyone happens to be curious as to what had the real Inspector Abberline disenchanted with his work with the police, it was the Cleeveland Street Scandal, in which the existence of a homosexual male brothel was uncovered by police, but there was much covering up done due to the names of many prominent figures coming up as its patrons - with some sources claiming even that Queen Victoria's grandson, Prince Albert Victor, was amongst them.

It was the thing to have Abberline realise that the interests of the police lied with the privileged few, and despite his promotion to Chief Inspector the following year, Abberline partook in no large cases after that incident, and retired from the force in 1892.

Tangential to the last post, but did you know that the day after Christmas Day became known as Boxing Day in England during the Victorian times?

There are two theories behind this: the first is that it is the day when the wealthy would 'box' anything they no longer wanted, and it would be given as alms to the poor.

The other reason is because it would be used as a day to treat the household staff for having served the family the day before, and so they would be given time off to celebrate and receive their own special 'boxes' of gifts from the family they were employed by.

Makes me kind of wanna write a little drabble about the Boxing Day when Mey-Rin receives that dress.
