“ Make way for the Crown that Never Wakes! His Prince of a Thousand Eyes! Heir to the throne, third son of our great high king— ”
A booming voice announced through the streets of a meager village, its people came flooding into the alleys and doorways to get a small glimpse of his highness known as; Prince of Dreams or a more affectionate name – The Sleepy Prince. Out of all the royal family the populace was most faithful and longing of their prince named; Somnus, third born to their queen and king, for they saw him as a blessing unto them, a means of reaching the Unknowable, hoping for good fortune, long lives with many children. If only they had known the true cost of their devotion, even for the wishes they prayed for – whether to him or Shadow, it would take from them.
In spite of all the shouting outside the carriage Somnus was fast asleep, lounging on velvet floccose with silk and linen sheets, draped from the ceiling and covering both doors and windows. Golds, jewels and silvers decorated much of the interior: tiny shadow stories written all along the walls and ceiling, sigils of protection, worship and love for an unknown force. Urns full of dirt and incense fill the small room in clouds of white bathing in sandalwood, wisping smoke of snowy gray swimming over the musculature of his arms, chest all along to his hips before dispersing on either side of waist. A gentle rise and fall of his ribs is the only real indication his heart still beats, even his many tails were limp over his figure, transforming into a makeshift blanket. Yet a stirring deep within his thoughts could not keep him from the world of waking for very long, an eerie aura befell his senses all at once, especially the type of smell…. Demonic? He couldn’t really be sure other than it was close enough to rouse him from his slumber.
Moonlite eyes ventured to the silk covered window that kept the sun's glare afar, hesitantly reaching for one of its corners with a clawed finger, lazily pushing the material away just enough to feel the striking blindness of the outside. “ Tch! ” What a horrible time to be annoyed! To be awoken! This mischievous hidden creature had caused him quite some grief, his All Being would not permit another near lest they were deemed inconsequential. Besides, it was his place as Prince to care for his people, even the ones on the outskirts of the City of Sand.
“ Slow down, ” a hand surprised the guards as it reached from the carriages inner, a clawed finger pointing at random to whomever among them would act the quickest, “ can’t you see I’m famished? Surely this village has water and food to spare, for their Prince? ” Excited whispers came from all around.
