Do you have any favorite song(s) from Lycoris That Blazes the Earth Kuromyu?
Dear Anon,
Thank you for your interest and sending in this question ^^
Though, I have already answered something similar in this post. This post is from almost two years ago, so fair enough, my opinion could have changed. However, I think my opinion stayed the same, especially for Lycoris. To this day, ‘I will be your pawn and sword’ is still my all time favourite Kuromyu song.
While I’m at it anyway, I guess I’ll compile a list of fave to least fave here from Lycoris.
Top to Least Favourite Ranking List - Lycoris That Blazes the Earth
I’ll be Your Pawn and Sword (reprise) - because ⇈ see entire post.
Don’t give up - The lyrics are not AS strong as my number one, but the performance is simply mind-blowing. To this day still the most powerful song-performance in my opinion. It was a good combination of screen and traditional stage play. In ‘Tango’ I felt like it was a bit too much, it was already half a movie.
I’ll be Your Pawn and Sword - Same song as my fave obviously, and the choir is gorgeous.... just that certain people REALLY sung so bad they almost ruined the song. LOOKING AT YOU, Undertaker, Grell, and AbaHanks.
The End of Despair - the...weirdest lyrics I’ve seen in a while... (“cracking like an egg” seriously!?) it felt like it was two songs glued together using toddler glue... but oh well. The performance was pretty cool. It was an effective introduction of the monster that’s Sebas.
Don’t Lose Your Way - Beautifully sung and a nice ‘prelude’ to Madam Red’s main song.
Don’t Lose Your Way (reprise) - A very beautiful and powerful reprise by O!Ciel himself as homage to his late aunt. Nayuta is a good singer, but puberty was merciless. Still he managed to pull that off WHILE his voice was changing? RESPECT!
Like Romeo and Juliet - it’s a FUN song, a bit of bickering is cool. It’s just that Uehara’s voice is....soooo bad. (This song is one of Furukawa’s favourites, by the way. He says it’s incredibly fun to sing.)
Rule of the Grim Reaper - It’s well performed and it suits William and his function in the musical well. It’s just that the jumping zombies were a BIT excessive and the song itself is not really ‘enjoyable’ to listen to me personally.
Despair - It’s a really effective song to introduce the musical and O!Ciel’s situation with. Just also not really ‘enjoyable’ because it’s so abrupt and rough.
A Red Reaper of DEATH☆ - .....the revamped version for 2015 is slightly better because Uehara dances more (bless him) and sings less (bless him again.) I wish this entire thing was instrumental, gosh... Uehara’s voice back then...gosh.
I’m the Embodiment of Beauty - .......from this point on I have trouble ranking them because they’re all so awful and obnoxious. But I guess this one scores a BIT higher than the remaining three because at least it’s funny.
Cooperators of the Investigation - Well... it’s obnoxious, but at least it is character exposition for necessity’s sake.
Don’t Resist It - yeah... no need to tell me not to ‘resist’, there’s hardly temptation. This song is one of the very few where all singers when multiple are involved are competent singers, but it’s just so...unnecessary...
Jack the Ripper - This one just makes me uncomfortable. I know it’s supposed to make you uncomfortable, but I literally feel my chest tighten with how bad it’s sung, how much it sounds like somebody honking a horn and...ugh. Some lower in the list I just don’t ‘enjoy’, but this one actually repels me. ABSOLUTE WORST.
“My, my. Can you really hunt me down with such tiny tableware, I wonder?”

boing,
I didn't notice until I watched the recording for the second time but in Tango on the Campania, when Rian falls off the balcony and Grelle catches him, he smiles a little in response to her calling him good-looking and then for the rest of his time alive he keeps looking to her like... She's his new bodyguard or something, like she's in charge, and long story short I kinda ship it? Wh-,
