The kurrea is a cryptid said to live in Boobera Lagoon, a body of water in New South Wales, Australia. It is said to have a long, snake-like body with a slender, prehensile tail. Some reports give it frills around its neck.

Though some speculate that the kurrea is simply a misidentified crocodile, the description of its frills and its colossal size make this doubtful. It has also been described as having scales of different colours. The kurrea has been known to snatch people up and drag them into the water to devour them.

A story tells of the hero Toolala who tried to kill the beasts. He threw many spears but none pierced its skin. The Kurrea, enraged then chased him smashing through all obstacles. Toolala saw his mother-in-law in a Bumble Tree in the distance. When he arrived at the tree the Kurrea screamed in terror and fled. Since then the Kurrea has not preyed on humans.
