“The DOJO - Excellence of Art” - By Leo Lupuwana.
I was recently given the task of creating & branding my own art institution. After a week of brainstorming and trail & error, I settled on the name “The Dojo”.
A “Dojo” is understood to be a highly respected hall/center where various Japanese arts are practiced & mastered - a definition I broadened in order to accommodate more art forms and celebrate diversity.
To represent the pure & sacred values carried with every Dojo, I decided to include a plane white background into Tho DOJO’s corporate identity, with accents of orange and black. According to further studies, I have come to understand that the colours I have chosen are also associated with the following:
White: Light; Purity; Goodness; Safety
Orange: Enthusiasm; Happiness; Creativity; Success; Stimulation
Black: Power; Elegance; Mystery; Perspective (Depth)
In theory, my institution would be open to artistic post-matriculants (undergraduates) looking to pursue a career in Multimedia; Performing Arts; Music; Dance; Visual Arts; Crafts; Architecture; Graphic Design; Interior Design; Fashion; and Journalism.
In addition to my branding, I have included the DOJO Sensei App”, which is a helpful mobile application where students can: find their study guides & relevant reading material; set deadlines & reminders; stay up to date with latest campus affairs & activities; and join various campus discussion groups.
