Thinking about KuyaOli in my Magical Boy AU.
In every universe — every timeline — , Olivine dies. Whether he’s devoured by a Witch, turns into one himself, or chooses to be a sacrifice, it all ends the same.
And in every universe, Kuya can’t help but fall in love with the priest all over again. He feels the same way about the rest of his team — that being Eiden, Blade, and Garu. But, there’s something so divine about Olivine that draws Kuya to him.
He’s gentle and kind, and so, so giving. The way he puts people first. The way he loves without conditions. The way Olivine is so, unbelievably human. It softens the old fox greatly.
And one night, as Olivine falls asleep against Kuya, the latter can’t help but stare in awe. Olivine was so handsome up close. He can’t believe he never got the chance to look at him in such a setting sooner. The way the priest’s head rests upon his shoulder, as his hands sleepily grab at Kuya’s shirt. It makes the fox’s heart swell.
He reaches his free hand up, and runs his fingers through Olivine’s hair. Usually, he’d have a remark to make about the priest ‘putting his guard down so openly’. But, tonight, they were safe in Olivine’s temple. Any magical boy business was out the window for the night. Right now, Kuya and Olivine were nothing more but two men in love.
As he relaxes in the bed, Kuya wraps an arm around Olivine’s figure, pulling him closer. He nuzzles his cheek against Olivine’s and presses a soft, chaste kiss on the skin before sauntering to sleep.
He knows what will happen tomorrow. He knows that they’ll have that same conversations about training the newest members of their team. And what will come next, too. He’s lived through this time and time again.
For now, however, Kuya will present his love for Olivine. It won’t save him. Or, either of them, quite frankly. But, love deserved to still be present, even as Kuya’s anxieties prevailed.
