Plot: Your parents bought you a new camera and Kyungsoo cannot understand why you’re so obsessed about photography
Kyungsoo and I were sitting on the swings at the park, as we did everyday after school. We’ve known each other for ages, I mean I cannot even remember the when we actually introduced each other. Kyungsoo has just always been there and I was grateful for that.
I remember that day in particular I was extremely happy because for my birthday my parents gave me this new huge and super advanced camera with which I went around taking pictures of everything.
Kyungsoo acted annoyed at first, as he always did, but whenever he thought I wasn’t looking at him I could see he had a little smile on his beautiful face.
«Oh, enough already!» he said moving away making my attempt to take yet another photo of him useless. «You already have at least ten pictures of me!» I pouted looking at the blurry image on my camera screen.
«But I like to take pictures of you!» I replied sincerely «it’s like you were made to be photographed!»
He clicked his tongue and looked away to hide his red cheeks.
«Why do you even like them so much, anyway?» he asked sitting on the bench near the swings.
«What?»
«Photographs»
I looked at my camera and then back at him. Why did I like so much? I never actually thought about it, I just did. I enjoyed it, I wanted to make memories. I felt like pictures were made as mementos to keep near to prove yourself you’ve been happy and you made your life meaningful.
But of course I was not going to tell Kyungsoo this. He was not the romantic type. He was much more the type to roll his eyes whenever the two protagonists shared a kiss or to call me names when I cried moved by the happy ending.
«Why do you like to sing?»
Kyungsoo opened his mouth to reply but he immediately closed it again. I could see he was thinking hard about an answer, then he spoke «Because time freezes when I sing»
I found myself smiling for no apparent reason. I jumped off the swing and stood standing in front of him, the wind made my navy blue skirt dance to its rhythm.
We just stared at each other for a while, enjoying the sound of silence.
Finally I decided to sit next to him on the bench. I sat closed to him, I turned my camera, smiled and I took a picture of us.
«You heard that sound?» I asked without looking directly at him, even though I could feel his eyes on me «It’s a bit like freezing time, isn’t?»
Kyungsoo didn’t answer so I turned to face him, holding my hand up once more in order to take another picture. «Is there something you’d like to freeze forever?»
It happened in a second, I didn’t have the time to think, react or even close my eyes.
His lips were on mine, spreading vibrations from my mouth to my face, ears, head, body. Everything was electric. The world was spinning around us, but we were there, frozen, like statues. I had the same feeling you get when you drink a cold drink, I felt the coldness in my throat making its way to my stomach.
I couldn’t say I felt butterfly in my stomach because that wouldn’t be enough, if I had to be honest it was more like and army of screaming monkeys, no giraffes, no elephants, no an army of all the damn animals in the world screaming inside my stomach.
And then it ended.
The only cold I felt now, was the one on my lips were Kyungsoo’s were.
I could not speak, I was so amazed I thought I permanently lost the ability to talk.
Kyungsoo smiled awkwardly and took the camera from my hands. He looked at the photo and then passed it to me.
«Do you like it?»
I looked down and only then, when I had it in front of me I realized it.
Kyungsoo kissed me.
He finally kissed me.
After all these years.
Kyungsoo kissed me.
«To be honest it’s a little bit blurry, don’t you think?» I said showing the photo to him again.
«Mmh, what should we do about that?» he asked smiling.
«Well… we can always retry»
